While I like any chick rocker who has attitude and something to say, I really can't stand Courtney Love at all and it has almost zero to do with the whole Nirvana thing.

A good example was when I saw Hole open for Jane's Addiction at the Hollywood Bowl in 2001. At the time, her band was without a record contract and she was fully into her little drugged out rebel shtick during their ramshackle performance. What's worse, after they did their poorly received set, she stayed onstage and continued strumming an acoustic guitar (without a mic), talking with fans in the front rows and basically refusing to get off the stage so the roadies could set up for JA's set.

After about an hour, people were booing her loudly and she seemed to be feeding off the attention until a roadie physically picked her up over his shoulders and hauled her off stage to massive cheering. After that, she spent another half hour banging on JA's singer Perry Ferrell's offstage trailer door trying to get an audience with him until she decided to corner a bunch of reporters and record company suit n' tie guys in the men's room where she and her band half-assed performed a couple songs blocked the bathroom exit.

All this shit caused Jane's to come on much later than they planned and they would up cutting short what was supposed to be a special LA homecoming night that would have included a full blown Porno For Pyros reunion (they did only play "Pets") because of the venue's 11pm curfew.

If she simply relied on whatever musical talent she might have like say, Chrissy Hynde or Joan Jett have done, and cut the celebrity whore bullshit antics, I'd probably give her more of a fair shot. As it stands, you take away the Nirvana connection, the fact that her best work has relied on the talents of others like Billy Corgan and others, you basically get a louder mouthed version of Anna Nicole Smith.


Although that's one chick Courtney might actually smell better than, now.

Sorry bro, courtney love sucks...sucks bad. No one on the links loves grunge and particularly 90s chick bands more than me and even I think she sucks. There are maybe two songs she's ever had anything to do with that were any good and corgan or others are responsible. Kurt doesn't marry her and she is just another junkie whore.
