Ford CEO (no relation) saves Chimpy from blowing up himself and Uncle Dick!!

Plug it in, fire it up, Mr. pResident

    The Detroit News

Credit Ford Motor Co. CEO Alan Mulally with saving the "leader" of the free world from self-immolation.

Mulally told journalists at the New York auto show that he intervened to prevent pResident Bush from plugging an electrical cord into the hydrogen tank of Ford's hydrogen-electric plug-in hybrid at the White House last week. Ford wanted to give the Commander-in-Thief an actual demonstration of the innovative vehicle, so the automaker arranged for an electrical outlet to be installed on the South Lawn and ran a charging cord to the hybrid. However, as Mulally followed Bush out to the car, he noticed someone had left the cord lying at the rear of the vehicle, near the fuel tank.

"I just thought, 'Oh my goodness!' So, I started walking faster, and the President walked faster and he got to the cord before I did. I violated all the protocols. I touched the President. I grabbed his arm and I moved him up to the front," Mulally said. "I wanted the president to make sure he plugged into the electricity, not into the hydrogen This is all off the record, right?"

Geezus what a MORON! Should have let him do it, Alan....

Uh, needless to say that Ford doesn't think it might have a design problem if the Hydrogen port looks like the electrical port.

Nope, they'll just stick it right out onto the market.

    Oh man...

First a pretzel, now an electrical outlet...

MOVE OVER MR. BOOTH. MOVE OVER MR. OSWALD. YA'LL GOT SOME COMPETITION!
    "Suck a fat one, faggot."
-MikeL, showing off that sharp wit of his.

"You may recognize some of these chemicals. Let's start with cyanide...The one the Aum Shinrikyo cult attempted to use to commit mass murder in a Tokyo subway in May 1995...The same cyanide produced routinely--1.4 million tons per year--for use in the production of plastics, adhesives, cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, and so on. It seems that those who put small amounts of cyanide in subways are terrorists. But those who produce it in mass quantities and contaminate broad reaches of soil, water, and air, killing countless living beings, are not terrorists, but rather capitalists, and are counted among the finest and most powerful people on the planet."

Hmm...I guess most people should know all about cars that, well, no one has ever used before...? I really don't think I would have had the slightest clue what plugs into what. But I guess I am also not smart enough to spend every waking moment of my life hating people, so...

"This is all off the record, right?"

    uh...... yea, sure it is.

And Axxman. To you're point about sticking it out on the road anyway. If the car is already in production, then it's cheaper for them to do a recall on any problems after the car is in the field than to shut down production. Design changes are big bucks, but something with a simple go/no plug on one of the plugs/ports seems simple enough.

Rest assured that some consumer watchdog group has got wind of this and will push for change. Don't know if it will help though. When the Ford Focus came out, it had an outrageous amount of re-calls.Granted, not all re-calls are life threatening. But some group wanted them to cease production until they fixed the problems. Of course that never happened.

As a guy who works in the auto industry, just let me say that for the hydrogen plug to even remotely look like the electric one is an open door to lawsuit-land. What a bunch of morons. That's just common sense, something that Ford obviously lacks.

I haven't seen the prototype, obviously. But I doubt they would look all that much alike, as electricity travels over wires, and hydrogen would have to come through some kind of hose or a tube.

The actual risk would have likely been the power cord was already plugged in to the power source at the other end, and had Chimpy touched it to the metal near the hydrogen port, it could have grounded the circuit to the hydrogen input, which would have ignited the hydrogen.

So it's fair to say that Ford might want to install some sort of Ground Fault Interceptor switch on these power cords, which would prevent even someone as stupid as Bush from blowing himself up. (Those would be the same type of breakers now found on common bathroom and kitchen circuits to keep morons from electrocuting themselves in a sink or bathtub)

Yeah, I know they wouln't be the same type of plug but even for non-safety related items like my co. makes, we still have to provide redundancy to idiot-proof it so the end user(be it the line worker at the assembly plant or the end purchaser of the vehicle) doesn't screw it up. That should have been design job 1 for the fuel systems people.

FWIW, not much I'm sure, your constant moaning about Bush does nothing but make you look like a bigger idiot than you claim him for & comes across like a third grader calling names. Just an observation.
