Came across this guy, never heard of him before but I love what he is doing. I admire people who look at things a little differently. Interesting stuff.

Definitely kewl stuff. Not to knock what he's doing but Michael Hedges pretty much pioneered that style of playing...

My advice is to go for the alien abduction story. Look bemused, dishevelled and on the verge of tears as you recount your story of intrusive and degrading medical tests.
Worked for me anyway. I still have colleagues asking me what it is like to fuck a green womanoid with seventeen breasts.
Alternatively just walk in and inform everyone that alcoholism is indeed a disease and that they should be less judgemental and perhaps a little more supportive."

Check out Don Ross (search for him on MySpace). Same record label--another crazy acoustic player. He's Canadian; I saw him live when he was here last fall.

Hedges was unbelievable! He gave a seminar at the National Guitar Summer Workshop when I attended and I actually got to play with him! Really nice guy and he hung out with the students at lunch and whenever he had free time.

    What a loss.

I know. Believe me, I appreciate the fact that I got to meet - let alone hang out and play with - the guy. And keep in mind was only 15 at the time! As impressed as I was with his abilities, I was more impressed with him as a person. At the seminar he completely answered all of our questions, demonstrated his tunings in between songs and gave us really useful, gentle constructive criticism when we played with/for him. He was so patient with us brats.

At lunch, when all of the musician's giving seminars would usually sit with the instructors and the staff, he came right over to our tables and sat and talked with all of us. And not just music, but whatever we were talking about: chicks, school, etc. I really felt it personally when I heard the news that he died. What a fucking waste...
