Default New 1200 page VAN HALEN Guitar Book!

Guitar TAB for Every Van Halen Album in The Ultimate Song Pages: Van Halen
    Press release

Alfred is pleased to release The Ultimate Song Pages: Van Halen.

Van Halen is one of the biggest rock bands to emerge in the last 30 years. The band dominated the Billboard Rock charts in the 1980s and early ‘90s, with hit singles like “Jump,” “Panama,” “Hot For Teacher,” “Dreams,” “Why Can’t This Be Love,” and “Right Now.” On March 12, 2007, Van Halen was inducted into The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

This amazing 1200-page collection features the complete guitar TAB for every single Van Halen album, including smash hit records like Van Halen, 1984, and 5150!

Songs include “Runnin’ With The Devil,” “Ain’t Talkin’ ‘Bout Love,” “Mean Streets,” “Jump,” “Panama,” “Hot For Teacher,” “Why Can’t This Be Love,” “Dreams,” “Best Of Both Worlds,” “Right Now,” and many, many more! This is a must-have for every true Van Halen fan.

Yeah, I saw that on the VH Store website yesterday...I think I'll have to get me a copy of that...

Weren't online publishers of tabs being hunted down and prosecuted about a year ago this time? What ever became of that mess?

None of the tab online is official - it's all done by average joe's like me & you. Some of it's accurate, some of it's not, and a LOT of it is incomplete. Less than $40 bucks for the entire VH catalog is a STEAL...

I use Ultimate Guitar for most of my on-line tabs but its hit or miss. Sometimes you get a clunker like what Slash used for learning Aint Talking Bout Love.

Tab books suck....period. Many don't show how to play the songs the way Ed did and many are wrong. I've read the Balance tab book and The Seventh Seal is wrong.

Don't expect to learn Get Up or Summer Nights because many books will expect you to have a Trans Trem.

You're right about that. I had a teacher who used to tab for guitar mags and he said that the mags didn't care if he got the positioning right, as long as the notes were correct.

Yeah I have seen some awful tabs. I love it when people tab a song that was in standard but they learned it a half step down. The song is filled with open E and A chords but they tab it to be F and Bb barre chords.

However its still better than learning from keyboard music like I had to before GFTPM.

yeah you've got a point. I guess like many of you, I allready have many of The VH tab books, and I find myself getting online and using powertabs more than the actual books.

I looked at Eruption in the BOBW tab book 2 weeks ago and saw that IT was WRONG. They had the final part as being tapped on the G string, when actually it is done by Eddie on the B. After I saw that, I wanted to throw the book away--after all, if they can't get the DEFINITIVE song correct for Eddie, how are we supposed to trust any of the others are correct. Jesus, all they had to do was copy a Guitar World and they'd get it.

Sites like OLGA used to at least give me a starting point.......Once I could get the basic chord progression, I could figure out the rest on my own. So if a tab was wrong, my ear would tell me and I could adjust it.

The point is......just because a tab isn't 100% accurate doesn't mean it's worthless......use your ears, not your eyes.
