Al's solo in "04....
Watching the Toronto show in '04 concert, reminded me of how much Al's solo kicked ass. Anyone that was there will tell ya, this vid does not do it justice ,the volume is kinda low.( gotta crank it) But if you were there, it felt like the fucking building was gonna come down. It totally kicked eveyone's ass that was there. Honestly, the place went berserk.....I loved it...
Fuck I love that kit too......

I thought AL was the best player on the stage the 2 times I saw them on the 04' Tour......Biloxi and Houston. He was especially good in Houston. I have that snap shot in my head that just won't go away. I was sitting in the horseshoe on the lower prom and his kick drum felt like it was going going thru my chest......it was actually kinda scary in a good way.

The 2 shows I went to AL was the best one up there(Sammy had his A game in Fort Lauderdale too) But I know the crowd really enjoyed his drum solo at both shows which is saying a lot since it is a drum solo, and I would rather hear another tune.

I was at the first show in Chicago, and I remember thinking that Al's solo was a show highlight as well. It wasn't too long which was great. A long drum solo gets boring no matter how good it is.

I've never been a fan of drum solo's but the end of al's solo on the 93 tour floored me, where he's playing along with the keyboards and horns..man, that was just incredible. That is my alltime favorite solo...the 95 tour was pretty cool at the end where he did pretty much the same thing. I was a little disappointed when he didn't do a version of it in 04 but he still played his ass off. Sam, Mike an Al all played great when I saw them, ed played ok but I heard he was on fire the night before in Detroit. It's a shame he was so lit for most of the shows, this was a big chance for them to really nail it and the booze just hurt everything about 04 IMO.

I agree with everyone here. I saw them 3 times (Greensboro, Louisville & Atlanta) in 2004 and Alex was the dominant force in the band each show.

Al is one of the best, hands-down. His solos are not only impressive because of what he puts in it, it's also the fact that he plays so clean. Some folks use the time during his solo to get a beer or take a piss but I stand up proudly and just watch in amazement.

Agree that Al was, by far, the only one to bring his "A" game on this tour. I saw the 2nd Staples Center L.A. show and the Seattle Key Arena show and the Seattle show solo was incredible. Al received what seemed like a 5 minute ovation and they couldn't even start the next song until he took a 2nd "curtain call." It has to be frustrating for Al because he has worked so hard to perfect and improve his chops and so many valuable years have been lost.
