    Default 30th Anniversary Edition of VH I -- Will it Happen ? ? ?

With the 30th Anniversary of the release of Van Halen's first album in 1978, I wounder if a special 30th Anniversary Edition of the album will be compiled and released. It's certainly a worth album to have that treatment.

Here are some of the groups that have released special 30th Edition's of their Best works:

    Beach Boys -- Pet Sounds

R.I.P. Edward Lodewijk Van Halen ~~ The Einstein of Rock Guitar ~~

Not to sound like a jerk, but we're talking about VH here.

I know they did the VH1 gold disc thing, but things were much different 10 years ago.

Yeah, being as how they have no direct relationship with WB anymore (though they are to consult one another with regard to re-releases of any material from the era of their contract), and this is the anti-climactic VH, one would be wise to not expect anything all that significant.

Still, it is a strong argument that VH 1--which has sold more than 10 million copies and in and of itself changed rock music (and could very well have earned VH a spot in the Rock Hall even if it was the only album they ever released)--is a very worthy album of special attention at its 30th anniversary mark.

nice thought, but I doubt it....aren't we still awaiting the release of a box set, and remasters of the Hagar releases?

If they're ever gonna release anything, other than Sammy's albums in remastered form, are ALL of their videos. All of them.

But I'd settle for a 30th anniversary edition of VH1, the BEST album of the 70's (except for Led Zeppelin's II & IV of course )

I don't know if VH is the type of band to continuously repackage old material into new releases in lieu of actually releasing new music.

I don't think we'll see a 30th Anniversary Edition of VH I. But then again, with this band you'll never know...

On second thoughts, nah, we won't see it.

I love Zeppelin, and I think that LZ II, and LZ I were some fo the best albums released inthe 1960's.

    LZ I -1968

    LZ II - 1969

But.... I know what you mean, because LZ I & II were some of the top played LPs in the 70's, esp the early 70s...

I doubt it, they've let so many anniversaries past that its unlikely but then again now that Ed is in rehab getting his head pulled out of his ass, there is a good possibility that he will see the light and start oh I don't know making the last 10 years of nothing up to the fans.

I hope not. I've already bought the album twice on CD (original CD & remaster) & have many of the tracks on the 2 best of's as well.

Give us something new for fuck sake. Release a DVD of a classic live show, or even a second DVD of video clips that weren't on the first volume.

Give us a properly produced disc of the Warner demos or the Gene Simmons demos. How hard can it really be?

“And what we have at our fingertips is arguably one of the greatest high tenor voices ever – that was in Michael Anthony. In our tiny little corner of the universe, that voice is as identifiable as the high voice in Earth, Wind & Fire, as identifiable as the high voice in the Beach Boys. Van Halen is an indelicate house blend of both – that’s intentionally. So I would always look forward to that reunion.” - David Lee Roth

How hard could it be?? Thatta good one.

C'mon, this is VH. After decades of this crap, I've come to expect nothing so I can be pleasantly surprised whenst something ever happens.

Option #1-Put a 1978 live show on the same cd as the original album, because there's certainly room. And have a second disc DVD of a 1978 show. Neither has to be 100% flawless to be sold commercially, as the recent KISS DVD set has proven. Given that any classic era live show being professionally released is a pipe dream, it might as well be from the start before they got into 10 minute solos and shit. Just blow the fucking doors off in 40 minutes and out!

Option #2-Put together a cleaned up package of pre 1978 demos on the second half of the disc with the original album and onto a second disc.

Either of those would get me to buy the album again, probably for the 4th or 5th time. Neither will ever happen!

True, but I mentioned II and IV. Not too partial to their first album. Can't resist the drums on When The Levee Breaks and Misty Mountain Hop.
