Questions on "Why cant this be love" video

Does anyone know which concert the video for "Why cant this be love" was filmed? I ask cause if this was filmed from a show there must be more footage from the show, and it would of been one of the first shows on the "5150" tour.
The band seem very laid back in it too, and not really giving much effort into it. Was it a one off thing?

There was no offical video to the single "Why cant this be love". If you are refering to the live video "Live With Out a Net", was filmed near the end of their 1986 tour in New haven, Con. I didnt think it was laid back, i though the whole show kicked ass.

That's not true. There is indeed a Video that's different from the one off LWAN. It's pretty rare and I'm not 100% sure but I think I remember that is was shot at the concert in Detroit.
In that Video Ed has his Franky hanging around his shoulder while playing the keys.

And yeah, I also remember it being rather boring!

The video you are referring to was not seen in North America at the time, but has been confirmed by fans to have been used somewhat in South America, Europe, and Australasia. The video footage is from a live show, but the studio track is dubbed in, instead of the live performance.

That's exactly what I remember reading online somewhere about the video. I actually have a copy of it on my hard drive, which I downloaded using Kazaa or iMesh or some other file-sharing software. It's pretty lame, as some parts of the video are repeated and its obvious that video footage from other songs during the concert are used. Anyway, it's also on You Tube...

I'll have to dig up the pictures, but I believe that was the Detroit show. One of my friends had decent seats and took a few photos. (I was WAAAAAY in the back, upper bowl nosebleeds). I believe those were the outfits Ed and Mike were wearing. Not that they had 100s with them, but for them to both be wearing the same outfit on the same night more than once might be less probable. I'll see if I can find those pictures.

That's my big contribution. Mother's Day, 1986!

No I didn't.
Also, I don't think he really stopped. On some of the keyboard songs, Ed started using a sequencer (or a hidden player) so he could play the guitar parts. Sam still played on a few songs up till the bitter end, but they were usually his songs.

So its DETROIT, Thankyou all. According to the VH encyclopodia there were 3 shows played at Joe Louis Arena, Detroit. from the 9th to the 11th of may, way before the LWAN video was shot.
Its always been populer here in Australia, and the video clip is still used in video clip machines in pubs over here.
It is a pretty lame performance. Eddie is indeed playing keyboard during whole song, while Sammy handles all guitar.

Well, let's put it this way......

If you were still willing to pay to see that band at all without David Lee Roth, you certainly were NOT paying to watch Eddie fuck around on a synthesizer while the guitar parts are butchered by a hack without even a fraction of his ability.

The only thing worse than that was the (3/4 of the) Who tour where Townsend only played acoustic because his hearing was fucked up. I don't want to hear some studio sideman playing Who power chords, and I don't want to hear the Ched Rocker playing Eddie's stuff. Or his "Busboy" Vic either.
