New/Old VH Reference on Stern...

I was debating whether to paste this here or in the past forum, but I think it gives some insight into Ed's recent behavior and there's not much going on in here anyway, so....

Friday's Master Tape Theater (aka, Best of Stern) was a show from a while back when they had Dave Grohl and Taylor Hawkins from Foo Fighters on the show. It must've been from right around the time that VH was doing press for III.

Anyway, while interviewing the Foos, Howard mentioned that they had Al, Ed and Mike on the show, that he got the impression that Ed was way out there and that it was kind of Al's responsibility to reel Ed in at times; when it came to some of the things Ed said/did. Like Ed would start to talk trash about someone and Al would jump in like a lawyer and cut him off. "Protecting his little brother", as Dave Grohl put it.

Having seen the video of this VH appearance, from the old E! show, I have to say I agree. Ed was sort of running around the studio, not really answering the questions or even sticking to the subject of the conversation everyone else was having - kind of in his own little universe.

It just got me thinking that it fits with his recent weirdness: firing Mike, replacing him with Wolfie, producing porn, etc. Maybe the guy's just always been a little bit "off"?

Ed produced porn? I thought he just did a couple of songs for the vid. He has always been "off" in social situations. He even admits it. It has gotten worse as he has gotten older and all of the years of alcoholism have taken their toll too. He is (or at least was) a creative, innovative musical being. Other than that all bets are off. His behavior over the last few years reminds me of Brian Wilson's.

I've seen that Stern footage, and to this day I still believe that all Ed wanted to do that day was play his guitar. Stern ran a bland interview and the rest of the band played along with him.

BaBaBooie should have had Ed's shit ready to go, that's it!

I would assume the drinking had something to do with it. We all have taken care of a drunk friend when he/she started to run their mouth.

Ed wasn't high or drunk during that interview. He has always been "a little off"
