Default Everybody Wants Some - Book to pub in August

    http://www.amazon.com/Everybody-Want...935898&sr=11-1

Anyone know anything about this book or author - Ian Christe?

Scheduled to come out in August.

Cover shows Alex & Eddie - no DLR or Sammy - my guess is a Dave era book based on the title and cover.

This is the first I've heard of it. That photo originally included Dave and Mike in it from back in the day.

unless dave, sam, mike, ed, or al are writing it or have participated, what's the purpose of these books?
it's gonna be stuff we already know, right?
    SOME VH LINKS CLASSICS

"Sammy is fat, Dave is bald, Mike is next in line to be the Pope, Eddie is a drunk, Wolfie is fat, Gary is gay, CVH is VH, Mike is VH, Sammy can outsing Dave on a tequilla hangover, Eddie is a meth head, How Many Say I is the worst VH song ever, Up for Breakfast is a close second, Dave was horrible at radio and everybody hates the assless chaps.
Ok I think that covers everything." Ziggysmalls

"I sense that some of our newer passengers may be nervous due to the sudden turbulence. Please be seated, this is simply a normal part of the periodic ride.
I didn't say we'll get to the destination, but until Alex comes out a says what a complete waste of carbon DLR is, we're still climbing, so strap yourselves in.
Those of you who have been on this ride before, the hottie in the mini will be around shortly with your drinks......." Red

The author was barely in first grade when VHI was released so don't expect any first hand accounts of the glory days. More rehash trash from old Creem and Hit Parader stories probably...

    There are none.

No VH books matter unless one of the boys pens it or at least is heavily involved in its inception. That's why to date the only book that's mattered one iota was Dave's.

Everything else is a retread of the VH encyclopedia. (though Zloz's coffee table book will be an exception simply for the photography alone).

Don't even get me started on that Van Halen 101 piece of shit fan fluff.

But if a book contained an in-depth interview with some of the main players other than the band, for example Ted Templeman, Donn Landee, Noel Monk, Pete Angelus, the various techs, etc. I think some worthwhile info could be gathered.

The flaw with books of that type is that the participant's memories tend to lose clarity over time. Witness the rose-tinted glasses the former Beatles displayed in regard to the past with "Anthology".

Several of the folk you mentioned above last had contact with VH in one form or another 20 years ago. It's unlikely their recollections have gotten any sharper with the ensuing time that has passed.

Wouldn't you agree that some quality biographies have been written by people who had no access to their subjects? Seriously...

Yes, but many of those quality biographies had access to validated research and accredited sources peripherally related to their subjects. Van Halen is a unique animal, in that virtually nobody outside of twenty-odd people knows the real deal, and the bulk of its inner circle legend has been built on rumor and conjecture only. You gotta give 'em credit...Roth, Hagar, the VH bros, Anthony, Templeman, Cherone, Bertinelli...despite all their catfighting, despite the occasional interview slip or off the cuff sound byte...they're largely a tight-lipped bunch.

Van Halen's truest and most accurate stories, even through the subjective takes of its core participants, must come from within, more so than virtually any other rock entity.

    Tommy can you hear me?

the author of this VH book has written a book called "headbanging history of heavy metal" or something along those lines...i've read it and it isn't bad.
