SOPRANOS 2007!! The final season.
Anyone know when it starts? I have seen February 22, April 8th and also May.
Last season was about the worst to date IMHO. I will watch the new season just to see how it all ends.((Just My Two Cents))
And thats about what its worth.

Last season's premier was on a Sunday in March. I have heard only of an April date. So I would be thinking the first Sunday in April.
I can't wait. Just started heavily watching with the last season so now I am interested in watching all of the prior seasons on DVD.
I hear that it is going to be a cliffhanger. It won't tie up any loose ends. From what I have read from David Chase.
The last episode of Season 6 PT 1...was kinda...well...yeah it was just..........................

the first couple of seasons are probably the best... the last couple of seasons have been too touchy feely for a mobster series... the first few seasons had a lot of what you'd expect from a mobster series - executions, violence, figuring out who's a rat in your group, how to do business carefully so as to not implicate yourself... the last few seasons have been about virtually nothing... there was one episode where at least half of it focused on tony running to the bathroom every so often because of something he ate... i kid you not!

Possible Spoiler Thoughts: Read at Your Own Risk
I'm thinkin' Gandolfini goes out in a hail of bullets somehow, someway. Probably from the Russian mob thanks to Paulie and Christopher's fuck-up way back in the Pine Barrens in the 4th season.
There is no way Tony makes it out alive.

From what I read in a LONG interview segment in Vanity Fair with David Chase and other cast members. It is not going to be that BIG of a dramatic ending.

they've been supposedly "done" for the last 3 seasons or so (which spans about, what, 5 years?)... although they've really beaten it to death that this really is the end this time... anything less than a dramatic finish is a bullshit ending for this show... this show started out so good and wussed out as time went on... i mean, we had a season where tony is in a coma for the first third or half of it!

...couple of things to comment on:
1. While it's obviously not written in stone, David Chase has, in the past, EMPHATICALLY stated that there will be no call-back to the "Pine Barrens" episode with the escaped Russian mobster.
2. If I remember correctly, the episode with Tony being sick was towards the end of season 3...still in the thick of all the whacking, hacking, and "true" mobster stuff that caught our collective attention in the beginning of the series.
Plus, Tony getting sick and hallucinating was more of a vehicle to get inside his head and illustrate all of the internal turmoil he was experiencing (everything from offing Big Pussy to the FBI closing in to dealing with his problems with his father from his working w/ Melfi) at that time in the story arcs. That episode was NOT just about Tony eating some bad Indian food.
3. Finally, from everything David Chase has said from DAY ONE of this series...HIS focus HAS ALWAYS been on the internal workings of Tony...as it relates to his outside world, occupation, family life, etc. The "action" of the series was simply to keep us all reminded of just how fucked up T's life really is.
Hence, all of the allegories and themes in the story arc as a whole: the ducks in season 1, the bear in season 5 (if I remember correctly), touching on the topics of Terrorism after the attacks on 9/11, etc.
Personally, I found the culmination of season 4 about the "perfect" time to start wrapping up the series...Edie Falco deserved her Emmy based on the last two episodes of that season alone.
...sorry for the rant...Yes, I am a closet "Soprano's" geek...and, I just get a little miffed when people start talking about how "The Soprano's" has lost it over the last few years. Action-wise...yeah, there seems to be not quite as many car-chases and gun-fights going on...but the pychological aspects of Tony have become VERY interesting over the last few years...
...I, for one, CANNOT wait to see how T is gonna come to reconcile himself with all the shit-storms he's brought about over the entire length of the series. I really think the last 8 episodes are going to move along VERY quickly...
...and, all told, you can call me an apologist, but I still don't think the Fonz has jumped the shark just quite yet with this series...

If T keeps it up, he won't have to worry about the Feds or getting wacked. He'll have a heart attack with all the ice cream and other crap he's been shoveling down his throat, and that'll be the way he goes. Not likely though.
I'm not sure how Tone will go out, but the Feds have been building a solid RICO case for years now. They've had plenty of informants from Pussy, Jimmy Altieri, Adriana, Ray, Jimmy Petrille, Eugene, and Jack Massarone. So I can see Tony going out that way."It's always a Catch-22 situation. i was being a little sarcastic about the food poisoning, but my point is that the pacing of the show has suffered... yes, we know that chase is trying to give us what the internal struggles of a mobster might be, but how realistic do you think the show is on that level? think of the real mobsters we've read about over the years... do you really believe that family life dictated whether they offed someone or influenced other "business decision-making?"
having T sitting on a chair with a shrink was enough of a vehicle to give us insight into psychological struggles he may be having... but having to sit thru arguments that last several episodes about what kind of wood needs to be used in the latest pet project given to carmela to keep her quiet is not the classic mob stuff that chase originally reeled us in with...
chase has every right to change the direction of his show... it's his creation, so he can take it anywhere he wants... but the aspect of the show that i enjoyed, the escapism that i bought into, was the high-action, high-energy stuff that we got in the beginning... that and the comic relief of T getting annoyed with his mother's comments...
i have just sat thru too many episodes where i felt like nothing happened to progress the story... so if that's not there AND there's no action/serious mob-stuff to at least appease me on that level, what's left? the family having dinner at a restaurant? that's been done at least twice as season-ending scenes!
the show will jump the shark when:
- T is caught by the Feds and bunks with his crybaby associate from nyc, necessitating a spin-off series for a new version of "bosom buddies"
- joey pants comes back to haunt T in his dreams, causing T to get back into horses
- Big Pussy returns from "witness protection," proving that his offing was another dream sequence
- diamond dave comes back for some more superfluous poker games
- henry winkler signs on as the new boss of nyc and is then fed to the sharks in the final battle, being pushed off T's boat, thereby winding up sleeping with the fishes
Runaround... around... around... around... around... around... around... around... around... around... around... around... around... around... around... around... around... around... around... around... around... around... around... around... around... around... around... around... around... around... around... around... around... around... around... around... around... around... around... around... around... around... around... around... around... around... around... around... around... around... around...

Major spoiler rumours below:
This could be BS, but it supposedly comes from someone on the series, blah blah. It's fun anyways.
One cast member gets killed per episode. First one, Christopher dies, second one Paulie Walnuts. The last shot of the series ends with ducks swimming in a half empty pool at the Soprano's residents. Carmella gives Tony an ultimatum, turn evidence to the FBI or she will. Does he pull an Andreana on his own wife?

They've been turning on Tony for years now, and he keeps getting away with it. Even the "Teflon Don" John Gotti got nabbed after years of beating cases. It's bound to catch up with Tone I think, but I can't see him flipping for the feds. He's got too much pride.

I'm curious to see if AJ is still banging that chick with the kid when the season starts. Or he runs a club like the "Crazy Horse" maybe. he's the worst character and actor on the show period.

Wolfie is not Mike, but he's more than ok.
Mike is gone, but not forgotten. They played some amazing shows from 2007-2015; some people are in denial about it.
