Van Halen News Update For February...

Before I begin and most likely flamed beyond belief after my news and what I've heard at the office this past week.

First, I have visited this particular Van Halen discussion forum for a long time and the mood here, is not a welcomed one, for good reason.

I have read countless posts about so and so and who knows who and my dad knows this guy who knows Edward etc... I am not going to say anything of that nature to piss anyone off here, just let you know what I heard in the office.

What office? I work for a reputable Music Management company here in Toronto and if I said where, I'd probably be fired with my luck since everything and everyone keep all matters in the office confidential.

What I heard this week in the office is simply that everyone involved in the Van Halen camp are moving forward with plans for a new record. Yes the record will feature Dave on vocals, much like Michael Anthony mentioned.
There was pressure from Warner Bros to have the record released on their time table, not Van Halen's. We all know what happened there. Edward Van Halen wants the record released when he is ready!

Four years is a long time to wait and we know what Edward went through and this record will be the most important record of Van Halen's career.
I know I haven't said much and most of what I have said has been pointed out previously.

I wanted to assure everyone that there will be a record released THIS YEAR and Dave will be the vocalist!

I also know that topics like this will move to another forum. That's fine, I wanted to give my SAY in the matter, and what I know, working in a Music Management Company.

Yeah, okay. Warner Bros. wanted them gone because they had to wait another six or eight months for one of the biggest reunion albums in ages. Sure. I'll buy that. Oh, did you hear that they've resurrected John and George and The Beatles will be reuniting this summer for a stadium tour? Yeah, I heard it in my office, which is where all the best world news comes from.

Okay, I know that I mentioned about lurking this board in the past and respected those vets who post here regularly but I am sorry, I simply stated what I heard in my office at a Music Company, I might add, and in return, which I expected ( flame ) and an idiotic comment like
' Warner Bros wanted them gone '...

I don't mind reading this stuff. If we're not getting any info from the VH camp, rumours are the next best thing. We've got to keep things interesting till VH decides to do something.

well then eddie van halen should come out and say there is a new album coming out this year, even if he does not tell us who the singer is.

Hmmm... I'm still holding out hope for the reunion to happen.

Still... what could make one wonder about it... that "new" DLR tune... and the planned DVD and new album... and the new guitarist and stuff.

Is that all just a smokescreen?!?!

You have any news on that or on the progress of the new VH album, Honest Lawyer?!

Here's the problem with this as I see it. You say that Eddie wants things to be on his timetable. You also stated that there will be a new album by December of this year.

So, on Eddie's timetable, there will be an album out within 1 year (from December '01, when the split apparently took place). But WB wanted it sooner than that. It's probably pretty safe to say that WB wanted it sooner than later, ANYBODY would rather make a million dollars today as opposed to a million dollars next week.

But VH was apparently under contract to WB for one more album. You're telling me that WB would rather release VH from that one album obligation as opposed to waiting at most 1 year according to your version of Eddie's timetable?

IF VH truly did owe WB another album, I just can't see that they (WB) would miss out on a reunion album of this magnitude because they didn't want to wait at most a calendar year (again, given the apparent split in December).

I'm going to send this to the Rumor Mill, but let's keep the discussion going there. [img]smile.gif[/img]
