    Default Remembering a great.....

This is a little late considering it's almost about 9:00pm EST. If you don't know, Randy Rhoads died 25 years ago today. While this is a VH board, I think we all can realize what a loss the guitar community suffered on March 19th, 1982. Since Randy was the reason why I picked up a guitar, I figured he should get some props. The dude was the anti-Eddie in some respects but both had that certain mojo that can't be taught. Anyway I figured to let you guys know so you can play a little Blizzard or Diary tonight in his memory.

At the time of the accident I didn't fully appreciate just how great that guy was. You couldn't have said it better, he had that mojo that don't find every day. Like Eddie, he was so far above the rest of the pack at that time that it's not even funny. And by all accounts he was a quality guy. A damn shame.

And ya know, I think i will put on some old school Ozzie...it's been a while.

I saw him up very close on the first tour (front row center Houston Tx), and he was every bit as good as on record.

I remember when he died and I thought, damn in a few years he would've replaced EVH completely as THE guitar god if he hadn't died. I remember getting into arguments with my friends about who was better, EVH or RR. Both were classically trained, amazing songwriters, THE best guitarists in the early 80s. No one came even close what those two have contributed to the guitar. I'm going to play crazy train right now!
Homer: No one snuggles with Max Power. Just strap on and feel the Gs!

American Coast Guard: Back off Canadians we got them.
Canadian Coast Guard: You back off hosers, they are in Canadian waters, eh.
American Coast Guard: Beat it you puck smacking maple suckers!
Canadian Coast Guard: Take a hike you Shatner stealing Mexico touchers!

Bart: Who the hell is this?
Jack Bauer: I’m Jack Bauer, who the hell is this?
Bart: Me, er… I’m Ahmed Adudi
Jack: Chloe, get me all you can on Ahmed Adudi… Does anyone there know Ahmed Adudi?
Chloe O’Brien: Ahmed Adudi; wealthy Saudi financier… Disappeared into Afghanistan in the late 90s…
    Jack: … Really?
Chloe (ironically): No Jack it’s a joke name, you’re being set up.
    Jack: DAMMIT!

Replaced EVH completely as THE guitar god? Let's not get ahead of ourselves here...

There was a time in my younger years where I was immersed in Randy and Edward's playing - and indubitably I still love their playing. But there was a stretch within that timeframe that I was all about Randy...Eddie was at the top for me, but a buddy of mine who I taught to play commented one time that I sounded more like Randy than Eddie during that time...damn those were the good ole days...I digress, I wish Randy was able to lay down more of his talent on record and give the world more than he was able to in that short time - I also wish he would have liberated himself more in the studio and was given the time he needed to complete an album without double tracking and a more live feel...Tribute et al. will have to do for now

    God Bless Randy...
    FUCK THE DUMB SHIT!!!!

I've never really heard those early Ozzy albums. It's a pity you can't get the originals anymore.
HERE AND GONE by Haylen Beck (Stuart Neville writing as...) - "It doesn't get better than this." - Lee Child, "Highly recommended." - Harlan Coben, "Cancel all your plans and settle in for the ride." - Ruth Ware, "This is a book that lives up to the buzz." - Alafair Burke
