At this day and age I think prices on bootlegs are irrelevant. It may be hard to find. You can get pretty much any bootleg for free by trading on certain bit torrent websites as well as trade via mail. I guess the dicks on eBay that sell bootlegs would be the closest to what the "going rate" might be for said disc.
evans5150We are all on this forum because of Van Halen. Period.

I wouldn't say that it's irrelevant if they are original CDs or vinyl.. But yes, check Ebay for prices..

CD bootlegs aren't worth shit, especially from Japanese Boot LABELS. $5 to $10 bucks. Also remember most traders already have those shows in better quality. Your only market is on ebay with dumb fucks who aren't smart enough to get them for free.
A few Pressed Albums are worth a little more, just because they are more of a collectors item that you can't get via the internet or trade. The sound on these is hit or miss.
The only thing that is worth anything is UNRELEASED tapes of DLR era Van Halen shows. That means Soundboard or Audience recordings from 74-84 that most traders don't already have.

Factory pressed cd's and actual albums seem to go for come decent scratch on e-bay, depending on the show. Older CVH stuff that's a good show can fetch over $30 for a single disc. I'm not so sure on vinyl. It will all come down to supply and demand of course. These are the only two things I'll spend money on for their collectability, regardless of the fact you can get copies for free.

I would hope that you guys aren't buying and selling ANY bootlegs...most traders around here look down on people who try to make money off of bootleg recordings. So just stick to trading and don't worry about the value of any boots.

I was coming from more of a collectors standpoint rather than the actual show itself. God knows I have a gazillion tapes packed away in a closet. It would interesting if someone put together an actual collectors guide for boots as well as other memorbillia, much like there is for say Led Zeppelin.
