What happens when Ed wants Mikey back?

This is all based on my own personal theories, so take it with a grain of salt.

My guess is that Mikey got the boot because he was the one to finally put his foot down and tell Ed, "You need help. Go and get it," which pissed Ed off and got Mike evicted. The 07 tour was then hacked and duct-taped together, and well...we all knew where that went.

So, fast forward about a year from now when Ed has been clean and sober for several months, is thinking clearly again and realizes that Mike had his best interest in mind. We realizes his mistake and wants Mike back in the band for a tour w/the original CVH lineup.

Does he tell his own kid, "Sorry, son, but..."; does he tour w/Wolfie against his better judgement; does Dave's participation depend on this decision?

What a mess. Just a thought.

I'm just kidding. I don't think it'll make much difference. I just want to see Ed playing like Ed again. I don't care who he's w/.

I think he will be mending fences with lots o' folks, including Mike...as to whether that means Mikey will be back in VH, who knows.

There's a lot of "what if's" when Ed finally gets sobered up from his addictions. Honestly, the least important, is what to do with Van Halen....., but if and when he choose to get the VH engine running again, it would seem logically to get Mike back in the fold if he wants the band to indeed sound like, well.....Van Halen.

If he chooses to go a different direction with this music minus Mike and minus Dave/Sam, I wish he would call it something other than Van Halen

Everyone seems to be forgetting how he didn't tolerate much after the last time he sobered up for an extended period of time. He didn't want any part of Sam so who's to say Dave will be any better off? But then we're all speculating and since we are not part of the machine, we don't know shit.

This thread seems to be putting the carriage in front of the horse. The question shouldn't be "when " Eddie cleans up; the question should be "if" Eddie cleans up.

Based on his track record, it would take a miracle; and if he actually succeeds, whos to say that he hasnt already suffered permanent irreversable damage?

No way Mike says "No", he would do it in a second.

Ed and Wolfie, who knows......... It all depends on Ed really. All of this does it seems.

I wish him the best, I've been ripping on Ed for some time, but I really wish only the best for him.

If Ed does get clean I would hope he would ask Mike to re-join Van Halen and realize that if he wants to do something with Wolfie to either not call it Van Halen or let him form his own band and support him that way. At some point and maybe even now Wolfie will want his own identity as a musician. Yeah he'll always be known as Eddie's kid but if he does something on his own he will be more respected by his peers. If he becomes the Bass player for Van Halen it will be only because his father got him the job. He didn't earn it.

I would like to see Mike back in and either Sam or Dave reunite and some new tunes. If there is a tour let Wolfie form a band and open for Van Halen, just like The Police are doing.

Well, from everything it seems, Dave is still in the band. And from his statements before the HOF, it sounds like he will be there if/when a tour happens.

I hope mike will be back when they return. without MA, and all the hype is gone, i dont think the reaction will be as big. but if they have a couple of new songs, and a tour with the original CVH lineup, it would be huge.

If Mike is ever considered again by the brothers, it will not be from Ed having an enlightened moment. It will be Dave, Sammy, or management who would break it to him. "Look, Ed, we know the kid can play. But the fans clearly want Mike out there when the tour happens." Ed can still jam with his kid, but that should happen at some smaller clubs doing some original shit they worked on together. Not on a Van Halen tour.
