    Default Summerland--The OFFICIAL King's X Thread!

    Here's some good news:

King's X, Pearl Jam Project Almost Complete

King's X singer/bassist Doug Pinnick will have quite a jam-packed schedule for the foreseeable future. First up will be a new solo album, followed by a new King's X album with '80s metal vet Michael Wagener producing, a project with ex-Winger guitarist Reb Beach and a much-discussed/yet-to-be-released project with Pearl Jam bassist Jeff Ament and guitarist Mike McCready.

"I can't wait until it comes out, it's been taking so damn long," Pinnick tells Billboard.com about the Ament/McCready recordings. "So what's left with this record is that whenever we can all get the time again, we're going to get back together. [Drummer] Richard [Stuverud] is going to finish up his background harmonies, we'll put the shakers on and all the little things and fix anything that we feel we don't like."

"There's a couple of things I'd like to re-do; a couple of words that didn't come out very clear," he continues. "That'll take maybe a week to get together and work all that out. And then we're done. I don't know what the plan is -- where we're going to put it out or who's going to do it. I'm leaving it up to Jeff because he's the man with the clout, so he can do whatever he needs to do with the record."

While Pinnick has scrawled "Montana" on his Ament discs, the singer doesn't think that name will stick. "We have never sat down and talked about a name, he says. "I'm pretty well sure that the other guys would not want to call it Montana [laughs]." Pinnick hopes the foursome could mount a tour at some point. "Oh God yeah," he says. "Me, Jeff, Mike, and Richard? Jeez, that would be so much fun!"

As for the King's X record, Pinnick describes the still-untitled disc as "A cross between 'Dogman' and 'Gretchen [Goes to Nebraska],' I think. Those are the two records that we feel really truly represent us. It came out great -- even Michael was so excited. He got goose bumps on several songs, and he said he doesn't get that often."

The album should be out in the summer, as the band is currently fielding offers from record companies. "We decided to shop this one around because we're real proud of it," Pinnick says. "And we really feel it's worth more people hearing it then what we've been producing lately."

But the first project to hit the streets will be Pinnick's third solo album, tentatively titled "Emotional Animal" and to be issued via the Magna Carta label. While his previous solo outings were credited to Poundhound, this will be the first to feature solely Pinnick's name. He describes the album as mostly rock-based but with a few surprises, including the gospel-tinged "Equal Rights," as well as a dance track, "When You Gonna Come."

Lastly, the album with Beach will be produced by the latter's former bandmate, Kip Winger. "I think what's left is [for] me to put all the vocals on it," Pinnick says. "Kip just called me a couple of days ago actually, and wants me to come up to Nashville, and do them at his studio. So, I've got to work that in my schedule and get that done."

Here is the track listing for the upcoming King's X album (in no order):

    "Bam"
    "Where Do You Go"
    "Honesty"
    "Open My Eyes"
    "Mud"
    "Sooner or Later"
    "Freedom"
    "Fly"
    "Alison"
    "If"
    "Be Bop"
    "Alone"
    "Stay"

Just wanted to let all the X Heads around here know that Ty has put FOUR new "bootleg" discs up on his site for download and/or purchase. Something to tide us over until the new album drops Sept. 27th. I grabbed the "Rehearsal" and the "Dogman Demos" discs...KEWL stuff for the price (CHEAP)...HIGHLY recommended!

I have the following King's X boots... highly recommend!!!
I know this is the wrong forum, <sorry> But I would be willing to seed these boots to, two individuals who would then offer them up to two others and so on and so on....

    King's X:
Acoustic Live '91 5/28/91 Austin, TX. (FM Radio Broadcast) A 1 cd
Empire Club 6/26/92 Cleveland, OH. (Soundboard A) 2 cd
Live at Summerfest Summer of '92 Milwaukee, WI. (Soundboard A) 2 cd
Live in Germany 4/04/99 (Soundboard A) 1 cd

Let me know.... and maybe we can work out a trade.

Default New King's X Album, Song, Video (Link)

I usually won't pimp for any band, but this is King's X! Known to most fans as the greatest band you've never heard. They've signed to a new label, got new managers and are going to be making a push for the golden ring. They've been around for 25 years now. Same members from the start.

Alice in Chains, Pearl Jam and many others have borrowed quite liberally from them and have had huge success.

All I ask is that you give a listen/watch.

Hands down the best live band I have ever seen..... on many occasions.

Here's a link to their video. It's on the banner at the top. I had trouble with it streaming so when it opened in Windows Media Player I clicked "save as" and saved it. It then played with no problems.

More songs on My Space. (Listen to all four!)

KINGS X KICKS ASS LIVE! But evry album that i listen to seems to only have three or so songs that i like and the rest I dont like. Maybe thats why they never made it bigtime. Dogman was the stongest album though IMO . I wouldnt hesitate to see them again. Did they start out as a Christian band?

The only album I could say that for is "Black Like Sunday". There music is a bit progressive and it sometimes takes a couple spins till you actually "get it".

A very common question. Not so easily answered. The short answer is no. While they were all Xtians when they started, (things have changed) some of their lyrics had xtian references, but they never considered themselves a christian band. The long story is very complicated. If they ever do a "Behind the Music" on this band, it will blow people away. Here is a link to the longer story.

With all the crap we have to put up with concerning VH (or lack therof), King's X is officially my favorite band. I've been a MAJOR fan since Gretchen. Here's the other thread going on about the MIGHTY X...

I heard that new song a couple of weeks ago on their website. Sounds pretty cool. I haven't bought one of their CDs since Ear Candy...I need to get caught up. They are sooooo good live. If you close your eyes, you would think there were 2 or 3 more musicians on stage with them. Great band!

You should get Tape Head next. That's a great CD. Also Please Come Home...Mr. Bulbous is solid. Manic Moonlight and Black Like Sunday are alright, but don't stand up to the rest of their catalog IMO.

I have to say it is great to have a band I am such a fan of never having any personel changes and still able to go see them at a club.

They should be playing football stadiums.
