http://www.gaietyboston.com/upcoming.html
and on that note,
It's a shame that some American icons of architecture, art and lifestyles disappear completely...

The place looks like it was gutted by a fire when you look at the far wall inside the theater.

This is the Golden State Theater, in Monterey.
http://www.goldenstatetheatre.com/gs...y/gallery.html
I worked there a couple of nights in 1984 as supplimental staff for the opening of "Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom", which turned out to be a dog. I was the assistant manager of the UA theater in Carmel and we got to see movies for free at any UA theater, which in Monterey was ALL of them. We even get to see sneak-peek showings of movies the night before (once a movie is spliced together on the platters you have to run them to make sure that there's no problem), so we had many exclusive mid-night, UA employees only shows here. I remember the "Breakfast Club" being one of them.
This theater kicks ass. It's three stories tall and in the front there's a giant third floor workshop that still had the fifty year old tools hanging on the wall when I was there. It has a secret passage from the projection room to backstage. It has dressing rooms under the stage.
I'm glad we were able to save it. Willie Nelson played there a few weeks ago."Nothing is ever what it seems but everything is exactly what it is." - B. Banzai
