    If VH Toured again...

If Van Halen ever Toured again .. with Dave .. do you think it would affect Ed's condition after rehab? I would think with Daves ego, it would drive Ed back to drink again! Maybe after he completes this stage.. Ed should take some time off. Think about it .. a recovering alcoholic .. and Roth cant be a great combination!

I highly doubt that this tour this year is going to happen. I think next year is going to be used as a rest period. Then maybe in 09...Ed might come to his senses and call Mikey. Maybe get on the road with Roth or Sammy. I still think Sammy is in the realm of possibilities.

Eddie is responsible for whether or not Eddie drinks. Not Alex. Not Dave. Not Wolfie. Not his AA sponsor (presumably he will have one at that point).

One day at a time means exactly that. Apparently Alex has been a little more successful with sobriety, so he can encourage his brother.

But let's not delude ourselves into thinking Eddie would be worse off with Dave than with a tequila salesman and a guy with a Jack Daniels bass. Unless Eddie moves to some small town in Utah and converts to Mormonism, he's going to have to resist the temptations of alcohol just like millions of others do on a daily basis regardless of their occupations.

    Hahahaha....my thoughts exactly!

Honestly, the best touring situation would be Ed, his kid, Alex, and some nice, polite frontman (I think they had someone like that once).

I think the entire band- whatever form will need to go through some sort of group therapy before they hit the road. The '04 tour proved you can't just bury the hatchet and tour. There were too many unresolved issues for it all to just fall into place and work.

Quite honestly, as long as the band does that, I don't care who the lead singer is. It will sound incredible.

I think we're editorialising wildly when we don't really know these people.

Yes indeed. I'm not going to try and draw conclusions about the personal dealings of people I don't know.

maybe gary's voice didn't remind people of dave or sammy (whichever you like, or both), but ed's music went way left of center on that album, at least compared to what VH had previously released...

if you were a fan of extreme, then gary's vocals on 3 wouldn't bother you, but even for fans of extreme, the music on 3 sounds very disjointed... i think all ed proved on that album was that he was not good at self-editing... that he needs that second opinion to bounce ideas off of...

to many VH fans, gary will never be given a fair shake because he came in on the heels of failed dave reunion #1, when the fans were very ripe for that reunion, plus most fans were not ready to accept yet another lead singer change...

Eddie needs to get right back to work, downtime is hurting him.

Which is why Mitch Malloy turned VH down on the offer to become lead singer #3; he knew after the '96 VMA appearance with Dave there would be no chance.
