Most ppl don't like Germans because of WWII - they associate Germans to be all Nazis, but most of those ppl are long gone now. I've met many ppl from Germany and I found them to be down-to-earth, intelligent, caring ppl... and the Goth German females I've met were HOT!! So, don't keep thinking everyone hates Germans.

The Germans I met in Vancouver out drank me because our 5% beer was nothing in comparison to their 10-12% beer - they drank it like it was water. They drank 2 pitchers each of beer to my 1 each time. I couldn't keep up with them! But then again I was only 22 and they were in their 40s. I can handle 8.5% beer now like there's no tomorrow. Besides drinking, they are great ppl!

Some Australians I met a while back could tip 'em back pretty good for sure...

There are some Scottish fellas I know thru my uncle that would just freak you out ...They fooking pound 'em back when they're on a tear...I mean, it's just freaky the amounts they can consume, and don't need a friggin doctor...

OMFG!!! I finally decided to check out your link. I laughed so hard! That boy needs more attention from his parents or find a girlfriend and get laid (or at least pay a prostitute!). His rant reminded me of Adolf Hitler's speeches, well, not quite like it - this boy was off his f'ing rocker more so than Hitler! Thanks for reminding me that when I play an online first person shooter game that it is only a f'ing game!!!

There will, unfortunately, always be (or at least for a long time to come) those who associate Germany and Germans with WWII, Hitler, and the holocaust. Those who know better understand that Germany has a rich history before Hitler (and after) and that the culture isn't all that terribly different now from the United States. I've always sensed that mild "shame" from German friends, though. Screw it! Be proud of where you're from!

Im guilty on this board myself. I naturally think less of Germans though I know it is wrong (and pointless). I doubt many Germans today think WWII was a good idea, more German families were destroyed because of the war then anyone else.

I will say that me and my brother in law (just a buddy at the time, I met my wife at this concert, her sister is married to the guy im talking about), anyway, I went to a Hulio Eglazious concert(I couldn't even begin to spell the guys name, and don't ask me why I was there, we don't get many shows in Yuma). We walked up to the sound board to check things out, along the way we met two German dudes that were twice as drunk as we were. They were REALLY cool and loved to here us talk about "American" stuff. I had a great time and they completely tripped me out, they were by far the most [I]German[I] Germans I have ever met.

Strangely enough though, I had the feeling they wanted to fight us the entire time they were hanging out.

I work with Germans quite a bit and I like this part of my year.

Being a Brit, there's always been a little residual animosity because of that little punch up in the 1940's. In typical Brit fashion, most of that animosity is expressed through rough humour, though, a couple of stereotypes aside, that has faded over the last thirty years.

One thing has changed substantially recently though, for the idiotic masses that is, and it's all down to sport. Unbelievable.

Germany hosted the football world cup recently and there were all sorts of worries about security ie. English hooligans doing Dresden like in '45 all over again. The fans were learning all the old war songs to sing on the terraces and the run-up was looking nasty. Lots of high profile footie types were appearing on the TV saying, "Please don't sing Hitler has only got one ball" etc.

Long story short: The world cup was one of the most peaceful ever and even the die-hard knob heads came back to England with a sense of new found respect and admiration for the Germans. Fans from all countries were welcomed into what many believed was an unwelcoming country.

Bottom line: Fuck the stereotypes, work it out for yourself.

This is why I always laugh when I hear anti french sentiment on here - how many have actually been to that country?
