Time to end it boys! .. its only music!

Mods .. PLEASE do not delete this yet! ... Needs to be said!

Van Halen has to call it quits! .. Lets remember the band they were .. with Dave and Sam. No need to bury this band into the ground more! Zeppelin still has the reputation because they went out with class .... VH is not doing that! Why cant we just respect what they have done in the past .. a great contribution to the music world! If Ed never plays another note .. that is fine with me. He has given us almost 30 years of music! Maybe Ed, Alex, and Dave did the right thing by not showing up .. bands dont live forever .. just in our hearts and the music they played.

With that being said ... lets add VH to the great list of bands from the past .. Zeppelin, Floyd,Who, Aerosmith. Is there really any pressure to get Van Halen back together?

I hope this post lasts for some time.. think we all should take a lesson from it!.

BTW .. I felt good writing this .. gets it off the chest to a better place!

When I go see Ed and Dave and the gang do their thing I'm going to be thinking two things:

1. Wow, this is great. I'm glad I came.

2. If Van Halen is washed up, done, jumped the shark, then what the fuck are all of these other couple thousand people doing here?

Truthfully, Ed has only given us 20 years of music. Their last REAL album was in 1998. The Best of vol 1 & 2, with 3 turd songs and a forgettable 2004 tour don't count. Ed would have been better off keeping Cherone. At least we'd all have about 4 more cds of music.
This year is turning out to be a complete farce! Hopefully Ed gets healthy and stays that way. But they have to stop getting us all worked up over nothing. No Tour, No cd and No HOF appearance.

I totally understand the sentiment behind your post, but I have to disagree. There is no reason that Van Halen cannot continue to exist and yes, even thrive again. As long as Ed, Dave, Alex and Mike are still with us, there's still a chance that we'll see them again. I think that the tour that was supposed to happen this summer will still happen, just not in the immediate future and not with Wolfgang on bass. Once Ed gets out of rehab, provided he can stay clean, I think we'll see a reconciliation between Ed and Mike. It was almost like Mike was reaching out to Ed in his acceptance speech tonight. I don't mean to sound new-agey or anything, but that's kind of how it came off for me. I know this band has alot more music in it and it would be a real shame if we never got the chance to hear any of it.

Led Zep disbanded when one of the members died... totally different set of circumstances...

everyone is alive in VH... lineup changes have only come about because of people not getting along, not because someone as close as a brother died...

I have hope. Ed is in rehab. I am willing to give this thing a chance. I want to see who emerges from the rehab center and how the rest of his life plays out. I know he has done this in the past. But this time he has a 16 year old son that looks up to him. Even I who has been critical wants to see how this plays out.

Lets hope that III wasn't VH jumping the shark

You guys are kidding right?!

That was serious professional negligence on the part of Van Halen last night. They're done after insulting the industry....They'll be lucky to play a rubber dogshit factory in Hong Kong after this.

Remember, The reality is that this is a nonband without a record contract whose members can't even be in the same room together. Who the hell is going to enter into a business agreement after the last decade of Springer bullshit?!

I loved them, but it's over. It's a Goddamn shame.
