Who said Velvet Revolver would do a better job than Kid Rock. If you said it, at least say you were wrong. They didn't even know the words to either song. Real fuckin great. I wait over half my life for this and I have to settle for this abomination. At least Sammy and Mike gave Dave, Eddie, and Al a respectable shout out and thanks. Also a hey for Gary. Thank God those two got to play. Dave must be pissed.

I like Velvet Revolver but that was one of the worst performances I have ever seen by a major rock band. Any time one of us slams Eddie's 2004 performances we should just listen to Slash play ATBL intro. I never say arogant things like this, but I have been in bands that did beter performances of that song then VR did. I jumped up on stage last november and did it unrehersed better!!!! I'm not saying I"m better then Slash but what the HELL!!!!!!
Did they even practice it once????

Dude it's not arrogant to say they sucked, they were fucking horrible, and I liked their first album. They embarrassed VH and themselves tonight.

That was beyond sad. Velvet Revolver's performance, especially Runaround, was an intentional mockery in my opinion. I think that Mike and Spams performance was spontaneous and not planned. They saw what Velvet Revolver did and probably looked at each other and said, "we have to do something about this". What they did was better than Velvet Revolver but it wasn't good either. Someone in the audience was shouting, "that's not Van Halen" at one point during the nightmare. Also, I could fart the intro to Aint Talkin Bout Love better than Slash played it.

The guy was yelling "That's not VH" after VR played not at Sam and Mike. Mike had his bass with him, so it probably wasn't totally spontaneous, but it was obvious Sam hadn't sung in a while as he said he was taking the year off. Whatever, I'd rather hear them than VR.

Was that Mike's bass? I have to see it again.

I am writing this on microsoft word, waiting for the site to deal with the overload of posts. What we witnessed tonight was for the most part, tragedy, with a few small dashes of humility, class and rock and roll spirit thrown in for good measure. We start with the long, long waiting. Through the Ronettes unending speech, the Patti Smith looks like Geddy Lee insanity.... then to VH---Will Dave somehow show? Who knows, maybe they get there for the finale? But when I see Sam and Mike alone backstage, I figure, oh well........The speech, nothing to write home about. Then Mike does justice. As classy as an individual who's just been kicked out on his ass can be. First words paraphrased--Ed, we love you get better. Ditto his nod to Cherone.Sam does the same classy maneuver. What follows? Mangled start to ATBL, a song that any cover band can master on any good night. Then, what was supposed to be Runaround became Around and round and round..........OK, then there's the pause...it sounds like WCTBL...I see Mike....will Ed or Al appear....no, but it's decent....we at least have VH members(former, mind you) playing on the HOF stage, sounding like a bad bootleg meets the David Letterman band. This is tolerable though to see someone repping VH on stage. Then, the post interview, again, classy. Rambling, I know, but....DAVE...If it was your decision, admirable in a sense, but the true rock and roll thing to do would be to go to HOF and tell em all off in your speech....and look, he'd have gotten to play with Paul Shaeffer. Like I said earlier, in the mad world of VH you never know, but, maybe in the 'all star jam finale' that the show is famous for, maybe we see a few other VH members arrive..........IF NOT.........thanks MIKE AND SAME for tonight...and ED/AL/MIKE/DAVE/SAM/GARY for all the music. that's what matters.(PS---I know now that my dream for the show's end didn't happen, but watching VR again on my recording makes it sound even worse...
