Look, I'm a HUGE Dave era fan I think Sammy blew as a frontman for the mighty VH, but If you heard Dave on Stern the other day, well, what can I say?! That was AWFUL...if you don't think so, you're in denial...that simple. That first blues song? GREAT!!! Panama? OOOF....SAD...Beautiful Girls? LAUGHABLE!!! Had to turn the dial... That is when I gave up ALL hope...The Van Halen I know is dead.

I am 33 years old. I have a wife, a house, new car payments, a fucking 90 pound puppy{named her Halen}, a job etc, etc, etc. I come to this board EVERY day like a fucking thirteen year old girl, looking for some news...FUCK THAT SHIT!! I have no time to care about a couple of old fucking scumbags like Ed and Al...shit, throw Mike and Dave in there for good measure.

As for me? Laugh all you want but I'm going back to my original favorite band...Aerosmith. Sure, they sold out but I just don't give a shit. At least they're still playing. Fuck, that Gap gig they had was the last coolest "Rock" thing I saw in years. The VH1 BTM thang really opened my eyes...Aerosmith endured so much more than VH and they're still kicking. As soon as I'm done posting this, I'm gonna bust Pandora's Box out of the closet and crack open a Bud.

Sure...I'll still stop by...and I'll buy what they sell. The point I'm trying to make is that VH just dropped down to #2. That's all.

Furthermore...Aerosmith is East Coast baby....

What I fail to understand is why people construct long posts, and start threads to inform the rest of us that they've had it with VH.

Who cares? Go into lurk mode, reprioritize your life. If a band means that much to you that you need to publicly renounce you dedication to them then it's time to take stock of what's important in life.

you know i'm as pissed as everybody else on this board about vh, sure i would love for them to atleast say hi, but i think there is a good reason why the band is not talking maybe they can not who knows.
they might just want to be left alone while they think things out i know that might not be right to do and a good way to lose fans but i think we will hear from them soon.
i also think they might have been ready to talk at one time but then eddie's health came in to play, then we heard he was 100% clean and he said it was time to get back to the music and fun, then we hear that val split on him.
so i think now that all that is said and done we will know what van halen will do next very soon,
i still have some hope left and whatever they do will be fine with me.
i'm just happy for all the great music they gave us all these years, dave/sammy/gary whoever, i'm proud to say that i'm a van halen fan. [img]smile.gif[/img]

Yeah, I've had a shakeup in the favorite bands department. Van Halen hasn't even been the favorite band for a couple of years, just a solid number 2. Motley Crue's been top dog for the past few years. But since they're not really doing much, I'm starting to get outta the music. Last week I was listening to Houses Of The Holy and "The Ocean" came on. That did it for me. Zeppelin is King. They don't really have a bad song. I can think of bad Motley Crue songs, (Brandon, Save Our Souls), and I can think of bad Van Halen songs, (A. Apolitical Blues, Josephina).

VH slid down my list a few years ago when they started fucking with the fans. There are 3 other bands ahead of them now, maybe if they come back the will once again rise up.

i personally boycotted VH after the 1996 bullshit... only this summer (since dave and sam were coming around) did i break out the VH cd's again- been a long 5 years since i listened to them... but i still get that sickening feeling when i think too much about what van halen has turned into...

Intellectually, I'm hearin ya. However, I just haven't found another band that hits me in the gut the way these guys do. I'd love to "have a new favorite band", but I didn't pick these guys with my head, I picked them with my gut.

I actually spent some time this weekend thinking about it, and I realized there are only two bands that I'd really go out of my way for, meaning I'd stay up late to see them on TV, stop on the radio station any time I hear them, get out and see them whenever they are in the area, etc., and that's Van Halen (and, to a lesser extent, Sammy Hagar) and Styx (but only with Tommy Shaw). Both hit me in the gut back in the 80's, and both still do it today. But, even though Styx is touring, and keeps up with their internet site, they are still a distant #2.

I can't help it that I'm stuck on Van Halen, I don't have a choice. It's their music, and it always will be, until they go country . Go figure.

I think it's cool to love a band to bits. I love VH for sure. What gets me are people who blow a gasket because their fav band is on hiatus. I can understand the frustration, but it's just a band.

I guess the thing for me is I come here the hang with the guitar dudes and talk shop. There are others on here who I talk non-vh stuff all the time. I just can't see getting that pissed off with a bunch of guys who play in a band. Calling them assholes etc in a little crazy to me. If anything it shows that people care, but why go about it that way? Why renounce anything? It's just a band.
