    Default Dave in 1986

ok, here's an honest question. If you were watching MTV in 1986 and saw the video's for Goin Crazy and Yankee Rose along with some of the other vids that were popular in the day like "talk dirty to me" and "nobodies fool" and stuff like that would you think Dave was a "hair band"? Don't get me wrong, I actually like alot of that stuff...alot of it. Just wondering with the image he was projecting at the time does he qualify as a "hairband"? I actually bought a "hairband" collection awhile ago and Goin Crazy was on it, that's what made me think of this.

Visually he really fit the mold (so did VH in 84).

However, I don't know about muscially. I would be inclined to say yes, but it would be a hard debate.

    Agreed.

I never really accepted CVH getting credited/blamed for the whole hair-band craze, but DLR's "Eat 'Em And Smile" period was blatantly "hair band" in appearance.

By going solo, Dave wanted to be even more over-the-top but I think it ultimately wound up alienating alot of old-school fans and made VH with Sammy more legit.

Notice the excess eyeliner and overall makeup appearance in the "Yankee Rose" video. After seeing that, as sad as it is admitting it, I always felt that way.
In and out. I didn't even make that pun on purpose.

It is just the 80s, I mean Ozzy looked like a transvestite and he didn't get lumped in.
If I don't respond to you it means I have you on ignore, which means you are a douchenozzle.

I completely disagree about Van Halen looking like a hairband in '84. No way.

DLR solo? If you go by the Yankee Rose video then definitely 'yes'....Dave looked like a complete flaming homo in that video. The first time I saw it I was like, "what the fuck happened to Dave? He looks like a fucking girl!?!" However, as a whole I still don't think Dave solo was a hair band.

Poison, Cinderella, Whitesnake, etc? HAIRBANDS. Not VH, not Dave solo.

VH with Dave ('78-'84) - The best years....the "real" VH.
VH with Sam ('86-'96) - Incredible era....."We have renamed this town 'New Halen!'.
VH with Gary ('98) - Fucking disaster. WTF was that??
VH with Wolf/Dave ('12-'15) - Amazing comeback. Smokin' album and tours.

    Ize appreciate and celebrate your reiterations...but I don't likes to hear Papa Roth or Van Halen associated with hair bands...Poison/Ratt/Def Leppard...hair bands...Van Halen/Them Beatles/The Rolling Stones/Led Zeppelin/Black Sabbath/The Who/Cream/The Jimi Hendrix Experience/Deep Purple...great bands...:debil:
