Yesterday morning people were still bashing Ed. Yesterday afternoon people were cheering for him. I think it's great that he's getting help, he obviously needs it, but he brought this all on himself. And if they still do a tour without Michael Anthony my opinion will be the same as yesterday morning. All the reasons Ed has stated why Mike isn't in the band are absolutley rediculous. I have to laugh everytime Ed makes a comment, like in yesterdays statement, about the fans. This guys has absolutly no clue what the fans want. Who know's, maybe when he gets to step 8 we'll have the classic lineup again...

I don't get that at all... so he doesn't take the stage as part of offical VH... everyone who cares knows the history here and how he got to be in the band in the first place. For Wolfgang's part, the kid had a chance to play music with his dad, and oh yeah, join freakin' VAN HALEN. Good for him for jumping at the opportunity, and it's no reflection on his ability/character/future/whatever if the band decides to put one of the classic lineups back together.

Maybe he would feel differently, 16 year olds can wear their emotions on their sleeve sometimes. But regardless, if half of what Eddie says about Wolfie's talent is true (as opposed to being the output of an understandably proud dad) I'm sure the world will be hearing from him one way or another at some point.

Just heard from the Live Nation promoter here in CT who admitted to knowing for a few weeks that Ed would be doing a 30 day stint in rehab. He also said they were holding a july date here in CT but that they no longer are and hopes to see a summer tour but it all will depend on Edwards condition.

They can't drag him straight from rehab to the road.

He needs to go rest and relax somewhere,away from VH the band, away from 5150. Stay sober for at least a year and then maybe hit the road.

I guess it must derive from your deathly fear that once Ed's sober, he may not want to play with Dave and perhaps will make amends with the Red Rocker.

Your worst nightmare. Ironically, all other things being equal, if Ed maintains a true sense of recovery and its steps concerning former associates, it's probably more likely than not.

At least a year, probably more, before Ed should even consider hitting the road, if ever again. I'd hazard an estimate of no less than twenty-four months of sobriety before hitting a tour circuit safely. Heck, I'd advise staying away from the decadence of the industry entirely, if not completely retired, then twice-removed from the big bang backstage chick dicks drugs booze arena shit. Maybe small clubs, acoustic gigs, jams with his son and his bro in the studio, guest singer and one-off EPs, feed his creativity without subjecting himself to the wicked wackiness of commercial hoopla rock and roll.
