Sombody that's been around for a while should get on top of this!

It's big news all around if it's true, but I doubt it.

Leslie West is friends with Eddie, I think Sammy got them togethor back in the day.

GOD I WISH I COULD HAVE SEEN THIS!!!!!!

Mountain kicks so much ass and this song is at the top of the......uh....heap...

A review from http://lesliewest.cjb.net/:

OUTSTANDING, could not believe how good he still is.
An average size crowd got to see the legend in great form and it looked like he really enjoyed playing for his fans. At 37, I was probably the youngest guy there.
He started with classic Leslie solos to warm up and ripped into Blood of the Sun, this was followed by Leslie talking to the audience about an "amateur" guitarist who he had invited on stage. This amateur was none other than Eddie Van Halen, Yes , Eddie Van Halen..
They proceeded to rip into Never in my Life trading licks back and forth. Talk about loud. Leslie , the pro that he is, let Eddie take most of the soloing and all the fills until it was his turn and then he taught the virtuoso a thing about tone and vibrato. I mean , I love Eddie, no doubt he is one of the greats, But Less is sometimes More when it comes to expression on the guitar. Still it was a thrill to see the respect given to Leslie by Eddie.

He then introduced his experiences of " being pretty high"
at Woodstock and played For Yasgurs Farm. WOW.
I was hoping he would play this song as I heard he may include it into his set. For those of us that know this song. We know the power and feelings it delivers at the same time. Great Tune.

Leslie then talked about his partner Felix in tribute fashion. Their history led to Crossroads and he tore it up.
lets not forget Corky pounding away exactly like he had played on vinyl. Drumsticks were flying all night as if he wanted the whole crowd to have a stick( He later signed one for my wife)

He brilliantly performed Theme explaining how difficult it was for him to learn. Talking about how Jack Bruce and Eric didn"t want to use it in Cream. I could only think about how I have been "learning" that song for the last twenty years.( Still dont have it down but sometimes I surprise myself)

He continued with what I believe was Mystic Fire off the new album, I was not really sure as I only listened to it about 4 times straight through. Good tunes . He also played a newer version of Sea of Fire which was excellent. He went into Why Dontcha and excerpts of Hall of the Mountain King while throwing in the close encounters theme using heavy volume control and what sound like delay. Pretty Cool.

He finished with Nantucket and encored with Mississippi Queen. It was truly a great experience to see the man again. I cant help but to feel so overwhelmed with emotion as my late brother Bob told me twenty-five years ago as I was listening to Page and Blackmore, Theres no one like Leslie and his sound is UNMATCHED.
I quickly realized how true that really is. Bob played his share of Rock and Roll, including a band that Leslie was in for a brief period called the Wild West Show. My brother remains very close to me in my heart and seeing Leslie is like spending 90 minutes with my brother again

In closing, a great experience from a great performer
and the best part of it all is:

I GET TO SEE HIM AGAIN, TOMORROW AT THE COACH HOUSE TUESDAY AUGUST 13TH. I CANNOT WAIT...

Funny, we write and pontificate about Eddie all day long and nobody here had any idea he'd be performing with Leslie West live.

Think Eddie could give a tip to his biggest fans???

Maybe he didn't want a lot of coverage beforehand. You know, kind of like a secret warmup of sorts. Besides it wasn't his show, it was Mountain's.
"There's a Japanese term called wabi-sabi, not wasabi, but wabi-sabi. It means an appreciation for the imperfect, the less than precision. The cowboy boots that you never polish because it's bad luck. That is completely wabi-sabi. Van Halen is that." - DLR 2002<br /><br />"Look! I can see their parachutes! They're ok..." - Tenshinhan, DragonBall Z

I wonder if anyone recorded it?
Nature's intent is neither food, nor drink, nor clothing, nor comfort, nor anything else in which God is left out.

Whether you like it or not, whether you know it or not, secretly nature seeks, hunts, tries to ferret out the track on which God may be found. . .

Best news we've had in a while!

At least they don't mention his health or appearance at all. Just talk about him playing.

Hope it means Ed's ready to get out and jam!

Hey all,
My LA bud mailed me this a couple of days back...
Hope this helps. Would have had it online, but I'm doing the site over...

------------
I went to to the Mountain show in Hollywood last Sat. night at the House of
Blues and for the second song, "Never in My Life", Leslie West said that they
had a guitar contest so that a young guitar player could come up and jam with
the band. Well, Leslie said he found this kid called Eddie Van Halen, who
then came out on stage and proceeded to join Leslie for "Never in My Life."
The crowd of course went nuts. Eddie only played on the one song, then he
gave Leslie a hug and left.

----------

Best regards,
Andrew.

That sounds great. I'm glad Ed jammed with Leslie. I saw Leslie with Mountain about 3 years ago at Clube Bene in Morgan, NJ. I sat right in front of Leslie and his Marshall stack. I had hardly any hearing for about a day and a half. The old man can still play.

It would be great if this was the beginning of Eddie warming up for a tour by playing select live gigs kind of like Michael Anthony is doing with Sammy.

P.S. You'd think this info would be on VH's official (pathetic) site!
