Why is Alex Van Halen not attending?

I think this deserves its separate thread.
We know why EVH is not going.
We know why Dave is not going.

So why, why in hell is Alex Van Halen not going?

No one is asking that question, and I think the answer will explain a bit more what's going on in VH land. I mean it's not like Alex can go to rehab WITH Ed, so what is he going to do, watch the ceremony on TV? I don't see how it would help Ed for Alex to NOT go. What good will it do? It's certainly not doing anything positive to the VH legacy. Alex is the first born Van Halen son, doesn't he feel any responsibility to make sure that the band bearing his family name is properly honored?

I think apart from health issues, there are some deep psychological issues involved here. I don't think Ed's health is the only issue, even he admitted jus that in his open letter.

I did not see this issue specifically discussed, though. Everyone treats it like something normal, "Oh Ed's not going so Al's not going." I believe Al not attending as well is significant. We must investigate!

One might assume it's a stance of solidarity between brothers.

If he even cares that much...he will play the sympathy card.

I hope the best for Eddie but the timing of this should be questioned by anyone who know the pathetic recent history of VH.

Sammy has talked about his concern and hope that EVH gets help and gets it together.

MA was loyal to EVH almost until he was dumped.

If Alex does not show at the RRHOF it is another sign of the complete bull shit when it comes to the brothers. The fact that he cant stand up there is sad.

Ed is not going...for good reason.
Dave is not going...because he doesn't want to see other bands play his music...that was in the job description Roth...get used to it...

Maybe by Eddie coming out and saying that he is or allready has entered rehab, then Alex will show up on both his and Ed's behalf. That way all the questions as to why Eddie isn't there are allready known and that won't take away from the celebration of the night for Alex.

I hope that they (Alex, Dave, Mike AND Sam) can go onstage and accept the honor and wish Ed well as a group. I think Ed's admission could make that happen afterall, playing now is totally irrevalent, let VR or whoever do it for them.
