What if this is all a publicity stunt?

Think about it. What better way to garner media attention then to have turmoil/drama?

"Tour On"
"Tour Off"

BAM! "Van Halen surprise RRHOF crowd!"

Can you imagine how much more pumped people would be if you expected noone from VH to show up at the RRHOF and then .... they ALL showed up?

A good publicity stunt would have been Dave and Ed yelling at each other, that kind of stuff.

Rumors of alcoholism isn't that great of a publicity stunt.

Creating rumors that will cause most of the VH audience not to watch the show isn't much of a stunt.

Well, I wasn't referring to the alchoholism rumor. Sorry if that is what you got out of my statement.

Looks like the rumor is now fact anyway.....

I see only two possibilities

1. Ed realized he needs rehab.
2. Ed is covering for the whole screwed up mess. (Wolfie, MA, etc)

If it's #1 - great
If it's #2 - It's just that.

I saw them in '04, and walked out early. I've been a fan since the beginning, and no one believed that Ed was that bad. I have the DVDs. He just plain sucked. I hope it's #1. We've had enough #2 for some time now...
