Default Playing 2 Guitars @ Same Time

I was hoping the players could take a gander at the following video. I'm curious as to how you can play two guitars at the same time. I always thought it would be interesting to play something like "Theme from Peanuts" on electric guitar by keeping up the bass riff with the left hand on the lower strings while tapping the melody and chords with the right hand. This is a pretty unconventional approach:

Last thing I want to do is track mud through this clean, well-lighted place. Thanks in advance for your thoughts...

back in my band days in the early 90's in Denver, there was a guy in a local band that did just that on bass. he ran the bass line with pull offs and double tapped the melody... was very cool

The rhythm guitarist in my old band could tap out the peanuts theme. Needless to say it wasn't a staple of our live show.

This is Stanley Jordan. Also check out Michael Hedges (died in a car accident), particularly a song called 'Because It's There.' Had a bass neck and regular neck. Amazing stuff.

Micheal Angelo plays a 2 necked guitar really well. I've seen him play in harmony
    with himself (insert joke here).
