Hi there guys,

When I was at University, I did a sandwhich course. What this consisted of was doing 2 years of my degree course, a year at IBM, then my final year of my degree course.

Now, my year out in industry happened to be 1995/96. I spent it at Portsmouth and house shared with 4 other people.

Now, during this year, I had to become a dedicated hard working employee, thus access to the internet became limited. Add into the fact that we worked on Unix machines and my boss wouldn't install Netscape, and you can see how detathed I came eh ?

Well, my brother came to see me one time. I was either getting ready or cooking, or having a dump, or something. Anyway, I wasn't in the living room.

We had The Box on (advertised as Music Videos YOU Control) in the living room where my little brother was sat watching. Next thing I hear him yell up the stairs :

"THERE'S A NEW F#@*ING VAN HALEN SONG ON THE TELE RIGHT NOW !!!"

I'm yelling back, "Yeah right, you're dillusional. It's gotta be a song you haven't heard before !"

Looking back, I can see how this comment would have pissed my brother off. He is as into Van Halen as me, so he's heard EVERY Van Halen song released, so he just knows when it's a new song.

He goes ape and swears on our Mother's life that it's a new song.

For some reason, I am still not convinced.

I wander into the room, and see Eddie Van Halen dressed in Black playing a black Wolfgang guitar with what could only be considered as GROWLING music blaring out of the T.V.

I just froze and watched it. How fantastic. And where the hell did this new song come from ?

We got the number of the song and like requested it about 5 times. Then I rang my other brother up and played it down the phone to him when it came on.

We were all just like so hyper. It was such a fantastic surprise. Out of the blue, new Van Halen. That we knew nothing about !!!!

However, with the internet and all the rumours, I know that I will never be pleasantly surprised like this ever again, since I will get to hear about things well in advance.

Sad but true.

Anyone else ever been pleasantly surprised by Van Halen like this ? Or has the internet taken the surprise out of it for you too ?

Yes the internet has taken away alot of the surprise but its also nice that you can hear news when it happens and not have to wait for television to decide when to air it.But at least now we get to read about ALL the recent Van Halen News thats out there [img]graemlins/sleep.gif[/img] So what was the song on the video? [img]graemlins/bounce.gif[/img]

It was Humans Being !!! And I loved it then, and I still love it now !!!
