I'm not familiar with the show, but I'd guess that the host probably pre-taped interviews with each of the guests and then splices it all together. It's feasible that he might get Dave & Alex at the same time these days, but not likely to have Hagar in the same room or on the phone with either of them.
Now WHEN it was pre-taped is probably the big question, but I doubt there will be much new information revealed. Probably just some vague comments about the Hall of Fame thing (considering Hagar is involved in the interview) and maybe a non specific mention of the upcoming (?) tour from Dave and/or Al.
In the unlikely event that this IS a live show, odds are that Sammy would cancel his appearance anyway, given his mother's passing.Eat Us And Smile
Welcome back, Van HALEN!!!!
...It's the BAND and Dave is really the cat that can front VH. He sang his ASS off and was really cool. No cheese here guys, this is filet Mignon! - Steve Lukather's comment after witnessing a Van HALEN 2007 rehearsal

I'm familiar with the program and my guess is that it's just old interviews he's gonna play sort of as a commeration of them getting in the hall of fame in another week. kinda like when Rock Line played that episode with dave, al, and mike on the 15th anniversary of 1984 a while back.

Funny how all the responses have been along the lines of "I'm sure there won't be any new info" or "they're probably old interviews". Kinda sad how the band has worn us down to this level of cynicism. We don't even expect minimal levels of communication or production from them anymore.

Well, being a local out here in SoCal where the "Off The Record" show airs, I know it is not a show in which breaking news is revealed. The editions simply pick a band, do a retrospective, play a few tunes, and cobble together interviews from the past. It's a radio "book-report" if anything. A good show for rock historian-enthsuasts.
The edition tonight is probably a third or fourth time repeat, likely produced as long as 5 years ago.
That being said....this should probably be moved to the VH Past forum.Last edited by LLFHS; 03.04.07 at 01:27 PM.

Ok, I bit and listened. Here is your substance, Pert. The short verstion.
Roth suggested they call the band Van Halen. Apparently, in 1985, Roth quit the band. Ed was bummed. Anybody hear about that?
They didn't know what the hell to do. They eventually hired Sammy Hagar to replace Roth. In 1996, Hagar was out and they briefly got back together with Roth for a couple of songs.
On March 12th of 2007, apparently Van Halen will be inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame.
This is Tom Brokaw, signing off.

"Sammy is fat, Dave is bald, Mike is next in line to be the Pope, Eddie is a drunk, Wolfie is fat, Gary is gay, CVH is VH, Mike is VH, Sammy can outsing Dave on a tequilla hangover, Eddie is a meth head, How Many Say I is the worst VH song ever, Up for Breakfast is a close second, Dave was horrible at radio and everybody hates the assless chaps.
Ok I think that covers everything." Ziggysmalls
"I sense that some of our newer passengers may be nervous due to the sudden turbulence. Please be seated, this is simply a normal part of the periodic ride.
I didn't say we'll get to the destination, but until Alex comes out a says what a complete waste of carbon DLR is, we're still climbing, so strap yourselves in.
Those of you who have been on this ride before, the hottie in the mini will be around shortly with your drinks......." Red

This "Off the Record" blowed. Anyone of us here could've made a better show about VH. No new info and Roth basically said "boppity boppity bop."

I liked Lynch over DeMartini, so I give the nod to Dokken. I like the Lynch Mob stuff too. :headbang:
