Default Melodicrock.com: Ed and Al NOT going!

Andrew confirms they're not going to even show up at the ceremony. Michael Anthony will be there. Mike IS Van Halen at this point.

HALF OF VAN HALEN CONFIRMED TO SHOW UP AT HALL OF FAME:
The PR disaster that is Van Halen 2007 continues. It was widely reported overnight that Velvet Revolver would perform at the Hall Of Fame induction in Van Halen's honour.
Launch Radio Network reported the following: "Velvet Revolver has been tapped for Van Halen's induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. The band will perform in Van Halen's place, and singer Scott Weiland and guitarist Slash will speak on Van Halen's behalf. For now, it doesn't look like David Lee Roth and Sammy Hagar will join Velvet Revolver onstage, and Michael Anthony hasn't commented yet. It's still unknown whether Eddie and Alex Van Halen will attend the ceremony."

Ok, so here's what I have. And once again, this must come with a disclaimer, as everything remotely connected to anything Van Halen has a right to change at a moments notice.
First up - no one representing the Van Halen brothers or David Lee Roth is talking. But I can tell you this - at this point in time, Eddie and Alex Van Halen are not going to be at the Hall Of Fame ceremony. No reason for their absence has been offered.
I can confirm 100% that Sammy Hagar and Michael Anthony will definitely be there. I presume David Lee Roth will be also, as I haven't heard anything to the contrary.
I was told one further bit of information - something which seems is still an issue, so watch for an update - but I was told today that Velvet Revolver agreed to play two Van Halen songs at the ceremony, but are yet to 100% confirm their involvement as apparently the guys "didn't want to do it if Van Halen themselves do not show up."
So that's where things sit right now - the usual mix of half-confirmations, general unknowns and other God-knows-what's. There is no update on the proposed tour, but safe to say that it is looking further away than ever.
What a sad and sorry time for Van Halen fans...so much that could have been this year is looking more and more dismal by the day.

At this point in time, given all that has transpired, who honestly cares about Ed and Alex, who honestly gives a fuck about these liars.
They obviously have little regard for the fans, themselves and the millions of people who would love the opportunity to applaud and show respect for their acheivements.

These blokes only care when they take your hard earned and try and convince the masses that they are in control, that their 'new' project is so great and everyhting else before hand is shit.

I hope Sam, Dave and Mike turn up and play 2 great songs with VR as their backing band. while 'sad sack and the yes man' rehearse their ten albums worth of stuff and welcome 'all the people' up to 5150 to jam'.

Fuck.... W.Disney has nothing on that theme park...............

They deserve it. Gary too should show and help Sam out. WTF... Oh and of course Dave will be thre. He will be the apologist. I cannot believe that these fuck face Van Halens are going to sit on their thumbs. Well yes, I do believe it. There is no money invloved. Long live those that do show! To hell with those that don't.

Who gives about EVH the curmudgeon! Mr. How Many Say I can stay home with his self-pity and play with his imaginary 10 albums worth of new music.

Hope Diamond DLR and AVH are present at the R&RHOF. It will be good to see both of them together with MA and SH to accept the award.
    DLR, circa 2001:

"Hey this is David Lee Roth and I promised you the news and here's the news.

About a year ago myself and the great Van Halen band played together once or twice and it sounded amazing!

In the following several months Edward and I, Edward Van Halen and me, David Lee Roth, created some of the most amazing, phenomenal - the hands fell off the clock ladies and gentleman and we wrote three astonishing tunes.

That was last July (2000) and since then I haven't been up to the studio, we haven't really been in touch and we haven't made any music, but I am holding forth, I'm in the shape of my life and I got the high note - I'm ready to go.

And I am positive for the future ladies and gentleman.

Stay tuned and I'll tell you what the future brings..."

    Default Well...

As dissapointing as this is, something is up.. I really think something must be going on with Ed.. I dont think its his cancer returning though.. Im thinking maybe he is doing something to straighten out his drinking.

I know some people around here are defending Ed's drinking with the usual "You dont know Ed or how much he drinks, blah blah blah" bullshit but the bottom line is, I saw Ed live twice on the 04 tour and I have plenty of Video's of Ed before 04 and there was quite a difference. Im not saying his playing wouldnt change over time (and yes Ed drunk is still better than most in my opinion) but it is retarded to think that there is nothing wrong with Ed.. I think he might be workin on getting clean before they take this on the road.. atleast I hope.. Regardless I'll be there when this takes off.

and I am pulling for Wolfgang!!! I am a young musician myself.. What a lucky guy.

Firstly, let me pre-qualify my upcoming statement. If EVH is in some type of serious health crisis, then i apologize and retract what i'm about to say. Otherwise, here goes.

I am not one of the fans that believe that the VH brother's...or the entire band for that matter, 'owe me something'. However, the RRHOF Induction is a major milestone in the career...and lives of this band and its members. For them not to show up at the ceremony would be a disgrace. And as Al said about them touring with Dave in '96, and i quote "It would have been an insult to the fans." Not to show up at the RRHOF would be a huge insult to the fans and anyone connected with this band. Sad to say but for me it's as simple as this...Ed and Al have become politicians...i don't believe a word they say. And they don't seem to have an ounce of respect for their fans.

Thank god for Sammy and Mike. At least they recognize, respect and appreciate the people who had a huge hand in making them a success...us fans.
...and in the end, on dreams we will depend...

You would think they would want to go, once in a lifetime event.

Even though I do think the RnR Hall of Fame is a huge fuckin joke, but still.
