    Default "Jump"/"I'll Wait"/"1984"

I first saw VH in 1986, so I never saw "I'll Wait" or "1984" performed live, and when I first saw VH do "Jump" in 1991, they did it with pre-recorded keyboards that sounded as though they had been recorded on a cheap Casio. As I was listening to the 1984 record this weekend while driving around, I started wondering if VH did these keyboard tunes live on the 1984 tour, and if so, did EVH play live keyboards and switch to guitar for the solos?

Ed did play keyboards live, as did Mike. He did switch to guitar for the solo in "I'll Wait", but he played the entire "Jump" solo section on keyboard during the 1984 tour.

What did Mike play? I never knew Mike played any keys.

is the video showing this. Mike is briefly seen in the upper left corner of the screen, supposedly on keys...the person filming didn't really spend any time on him.

I would much rather here the guitar during jump with prerecorded keyboards than none at all

Yeah, a lot of folks here aren't down with the pre-recorded keys or guy backstage thing, but I didn't mind it. Ed really wrote the keyboard and guitar parts to work together, and it lacks something when they're both not there. Fitz did a great job on the Balance and '04 tours matching sounds and whatnot, and he was always up in the mix, unlike the sequenced keyboard parts on the FUCK tour.
