Frankenstrat

Hey dudes i have a begginer strat in sunburst which i want to change into a frankenstrat the paint and everything, ive never taken apart a strat ever and i wanted to knwo what i will be dealing with as soon as i take the pickguard off. Will the pickups come up with the pick guard or will they stay in the cut out. Any pointers would help. I would like some tips on painting to.

The pickups will stay attached to the pickgaurd, but there will be wires still attached comming from your input jack and trem claw (ground).

If you've never done this before, I suggest taking pics of everything BEFORE you start clipping wires and taking everything apart. I'd also suggest "tagging" the wires with where they should go as well.

Place all your parts in separate baggies with labels so you know where everything goes and so small parts don't get lost.

As for painting ... that's a whole new thread in itself.

You may be dealing with a full pup cavity rout...which would mean a lame looking frankie copy...

Hey thanks for the reply dude sbut i honestly dont knwo what to do at this point it woul dbe a cool project but i dont know if i really want to take the risk i mena it is the first guitar that i ever had and its always nice to have a backup guitar juts incase-Simon

Dude, get a kit or one of those $99 Squiers at Guitar Center and learn the ropes! Don Erlewine's repair book will also be a solid investment...

You'll rival rol and the other gurus in no time...
