Just a quote I found from last year

February 15, 2006: The New York Daily News[14] runs a story with several quotes from Roth regarding a Van Halen reunion. "People want the reunion," Roth said. "No one will pay respect to what any of us do [musically] until we get the reunion out of the way." "Once Eddie (Van Halen) does that, everything else he does can be seen with a fresh eye."

I just find it odd that if Dave goes through with this without Mike, he'll be going againsn't everything that he's talked about as far as a reunion is concerned.

I have that podcast where Roth says that. How could he say that and then do something that will lower their and his credibility even more?!?!?

Not doing the full Reunion for 23 years was better than him signing on to do this half-assed Reunion, if you go by his logic in that quote.

I don't know what to think anymore. HELP ME!!!

I guess it means we know which variety of "reunion" he believes in, the Dave and Ed = Van Halen version.

If he were a linker, he'd post things like "I can't believe y'all aren't going because of Mike", and "Who cares about backing vocals anyway?"

Roth also said on his radio show, and I have the podcast somewhere, that Mikey was the glue that held the band together and he would NOT DO a Reunion WITHOUT Mikey.

I'm with you dude. I'm kind of dissapointed in some of the people here and at the Army that wanted a "CLASSIC VH REUNION." That's what I wanted. Then VH gets Dave back and all of a sudden it's good enough. It's not the classic van halen that they wanted, but it's good enough. So obviously they were just fans of Ed / Dave and not Classic VH.

Roth's a hypocrite.

He also didn't want to jam in 2002 because he didn't want a "half-assed" reunion.

Don't think he said all that. He said some complimentary things about Mike when someone called and asked him. Some dude called and basically told Dave about Mikey saying that the songs they recorded in 2000 were awesome and the
magic was still there.
Now, before the guy said this, Dave was just about to light Mike up for selling hot sauce. The guy mentioned that Mike mentioned Dave, and Dave says "Isn't Michael Anthony selling hot sauce now? Why does this make perfect sense?"....then the guy told Dave about what Mike said regarding the 2000 songs...THEN Dave immediately shifted gears. Started saying how solid Mike was, how if he built you a house you it would survive an earthquake, or something like that. Basically just said Mike's a solid guy.

If he ever said he wouldn't do a reunion without Mike, I don't see how it wasn't discussed here, and I don't remember a discussion like that.

I seem to remember Dave saying something to the affect of, "a reunion would have to be with Mikey". I know he said something like that.

Dave was saying, "if we needed a lighting rig...Mikey and I got it". They'd steal outdoor lights from people's yards, Mikey and Dave, and they'd use them for onstage.

"if we needed a PA system or amps...Mikey and I would get one or them".

This is what I remember Dave saying as well.

But everything you say, I remember as well..

Well duh..ROTH is a hypocrite. A CASH GRAB tour will make people do crazy things. Do not know who I am more upset with EDDIE or DAVE. Just tired of double talk after all these years and failed reunions.

It's funny how Dave includes Eddie in that with him. He doesn't get any respect for what he does anymore (viewing it from attention, record sales, big tours and the like) because what he's done hasn't been good enough.
Dave just couldn't survive the grunge period. Ed did (briefly).
Also, a reunion won't make a difference to anything these guys do in the future. Anything Dave does will ALWAYS be compared to his past. Likewise for Ed.

If Eddie ever jammed with the DLR band, we would all have been psyched as hell and talking about it like it was the greatest thing ever: McCartney and Lennon, Jagger and Richards, Tyler and Perry, Townsend and Daltrey, Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley and yes of course: Dave and Eddie!!!!!!!!

things changed out of his control since then... would any of you pass up the opportunity to make the kind of money that he's in line to make with this tour? does it excuse eddie from shafting mike? no, it doesn't... but touring is huge business, and reunion touring is even bigger business... would the tour be more successful if it was the original four? probably, but now even mach IV is in danger, so let's just be happy with what we get...

people in the entertainment business are constantly spinning things so that they can sell the most tix, the most hot sauce, the most tequila, etc.

none of the 5 main vh guys are innocent of this, and it's not a fault, either... they're just doing their part to make their money and no one has to like it... if you don't, then don't buy tickets to the tour/buy their merch/cd's, etc.

just my $.02... i'll climb off my soapbox now...
