Update From Brad & Live Nation
So I e-mailed Brad at the "official" website and made a call to live nation, both yesterday. I suprisingly got an automated response from Brad and a phone message from live nation. Here is the e-mail I got from Brad:
The tour is still in the works. Your best bet right now is to consider Van Halen a work in progress.
Additional information will be posted to the website as things develop.
I have the number to call the guy from live nation on Monday. As soon as I speak to him, I'll post the info. If the mods want to merge this, just shoot me a PM so I'll know where to post any new info I get.Last edited by onefootoutthedoor; 02.24.07 at 01:41 AM.

Looks to me like the Van Halen camp circled its wagons and all decided what properly worded code to use. Does this mean more, "No news is good news" posts for the future?

It just seems to me that people are automatically thinking it's Ed and rehab, but it could be anything- anything from legal issues, Mike, family, health, anything. Personally, I have this feeling that it's related to Wolfgang and Mike. For some reason, I have this vibe that Mike is coming back. I know it's desparate thinking, but something Dave said in a recent interview about fragile and Mike makes me wonder.

"No news is good news" got pretty tiring to hear.
"Work in progress"? Hopefully, they are progressing in this endeavor.Remember the Heroes - 9/11/01

I can live with Brad's response (for now anyway). It sure beats hearing "VH is on an indefinite hiatus".
It should be very interesting to hear what Live Nation has to say.
To be contiunued..."Question is, not does love exist, but when she leaves, where she goes. I got a feeling she don't know either. Wait like the wind, watch where she blows..."

We'll never know for sure, but my guess is that this is about the monetary and legal framework. In my opinion delays due to Mike's absence, Wolfgang's youth, Valerie's maternal concerns or Eddie's/Dave's respective egos are all illusionary.
Happiness is the meaning and the purpose of life, the whole aim and end of human existence.

Nice job tracking that info down. I've been saying all this week to my friends that if the official site says the tour is cancelled, then I'll give up hope. So far, that hasn't happened.

there have been a few confirmed "insiders" on this site, including andrew from melodicrock, that have been able to definitively say that it is NOT an issue about the lineup at all, and that, if you read between the lines, it's all about ed getting his act together "health-wise"...

Isn't the issue due to EVH requiring rehab for his alcoholism and/or drug-abuse? Might as well throw in psychiatric therapy for his lunacy/insanity while they're at it. The man badly needs inner-peace too.
DLR, circa 2001:
"Hey this is David Lee Roth and I promised you the news and here's the news.
About a year ago myself and the great Van Halen band played together once or twice and it sounded amazing!
In the following several months Edward and I, Edward Van Halen and me, David Lee Roth, created some of the most amazing, phenomenal - the hands fell off the clock ladies and gentleman and we wrote three astonishing tunes.
That was last July (2000) and since then I haven't been up to the studio, we haven't really been in touch and we haven't made any music, but I am holding forth, I'm in the shape of my life and I got the high note - I'm ready to go.
And I am positive for the future ladies and gentleman.
Stay tuned and I'll tell you what the future brings..."

I think when comments are made that say "anything could happen" "its up in the air" "it changes daily" "Its a work in progress"...people should accept them at face value. I honestly believe everyone working with EVH probably has a nervous stomach wondering if this is the day it all blows up for no apparant reason. I think people have commented on seemingly contradictory comments by Sammy, Mike and maybe even Dave in the past....but I don't really think they lie or twist. I literally think the mood of EVH changes on a dime, on a whim and things could seem like "brothers" one minute and by 2 days later he start talking about what an AHOLE someone is...or just give the cold shoulder.
I think people often interpret those quoted phrases above as somehow double talk or spin or a way to obfuscate, when in reality, in this case, its the truth.
Its a hard thing to embrace, but I think the truth with this is that if you see them on stage, it happened. Wondering about it before hand is simply a waste of time.
Sadly EVH strikes me as the kind of guy right now who could call you or me or Dave, say come on up and hang, tell you to "come by next week" to work on tunes. Then you show up and he says "WTF are YOU doing here...I'm busy".
The irony of it is that one of the excuses for the Sammy breakup was that Sammy was "lazy". That is a laugh riot now. And didn't EVH comment about how he was ready to do a new VH album and DLR wanted to work on other stuff (1984-85)? Ironic now isn't it?

Yep. Eddie claimed that Hagar's "work ethic sucked" in pretty much every interview of the 96-97 era. Now the quality of the material can certainly be debated - and I myself would only endorse about half of "Marching to Mars" (the pissed off half) - but there's no doubt in terms of quantity at least, that Sammy has worked a Hell of a lot more than Eddie has since the June 1996 breakup of Van Hagar.
Likewise, Dave's reason for leaving the band in April 1985 was that he wanted to get the band's 7th album going and capitalize on the band's new popularity after the 1984 album and tour, but the Lying Dutchmen wanted to snort coke, drink, and be lazy.
Eddie Van Halen is nobody to preach on the subject of work ethics.Eat Us And Smile

Dude and Elevator are great tunes. Mirrors is OK, but has too much sterile production and is boring at times. I think it was Tom in The Making of Pump that holds up the DWM album cover and says...
