VH News From Hagar via MTV2

Watching MTV2 and there's a program on called "Artist's Favorites", and this one is entitled "Sam & Dave's Faves", where the VJ interviews each artist separately and then plays shitty-ass videos.

Anyways, they just interviewed Sam and asked him the golden question about VH. Sam replied that although they (Roth and VH) tried to get it together twice, and it's common knowledge they don't get along, he said, "Mike Anthony is my good friend, and he told me recently 'It's never gonna happen. Ever.'"

Straight from Sam's mouth to anyone and everyone that was watching. This interview looks very recent, judging by Sam's comments, Dave's looks, and the fact that they're all talking about the tour in past tense.

As has been stated here many times before, I don't think that Sam or Mike are "in the know", or Dave for that matter. Anything said by these guys is pure speculation at this point. The ball has to be the brothers court. Thanks for the info though.

Therein lies Sammy's problem. On the one hand he
is saying how Mike is such a great friend,
and then in the same sentence telling the world
confidential information that Michael has
apparently told him. Does anyone else see the
problem here ?

And all for nothing more than making himself
look better in the interview.

If this information wasnt confidential, MA himself
would have been able to divulge it himself.

Yes Dave and Van Halen have tried twice, the
second attempt having real reasons why it didnt
go ahead. How many attempts have they made with
Sammy ? The big dollars on the table are for
a reunion with Dave. Sam knows this, EVH and AVH
know this, MA is just the innocent puppet
inbetween. The sad thing here is Sammy would think
he has done absolutely nothing wrong. He applies
this philosphy to many facets of his dealings.

If Sammy was to return to Van Halen there has
to be some major convincing to EVH and AVH that
he was an innocent party in some of the behind
the scenes business dealings.

If MA did indeed divulge this information to a
"friend" he should judge his "friends" more wisely
in the future.

As Davejab said, as much as Mike and Sammy think
they can influence the final decision, its not
theirs to make. For the record, Mike would have
absolutely no problem in playing with Dave.

anyway......I tell you right now VH will never sell more than 1 mill worth of records again with sammy if they get together. do you think balance would sell 2 mill today like it did when it was released. I dont think so at all.

if sammy gets back it will hardly be a long awaited reunion. it will be what it will be. sammy again back with VH. boring.......

Mike is now very much out of the loop as Sam and Dave are.

I'd like to say that even Al doesn't know what direction the band will go, if EVER.

The only man who may know or who has any idea is Eddie.

I just can't see them getting back together with Sam. What else could he really offer, other than the reunion schtick...which Eddie apparently isn't too fond of?

I also don't get Gary now saying that Sam is the next logical step. First he told VH that they should get Dave back. Now Sam. Why? Just to please the fans? That's all fine and good but there's more to it than just the fans. It has to come from the heart first and the writer has to please themselves first and foremost. Otherwise, it's fake.
I hope VH doesn't think Sam is their only other choice.

It always cracks me up to read how people seem to know what is NOT the truth when Sammy, Mike or Dave for that matter speaks. Why would Sam say something like that in an interview if there was NO truth to it? I do agree that anything VH-releated must go through Eddie. Does anyone remember when Sammy a few years ago said that Dave was in the studio with VH but they couldn't make it work? Some folks on this site said that Sam didn't know anything and that it was a lie. Well, that did end up being true.

All I'm trying to say, is don't dismiss anything Sammy says about VH so quickly.

Definately not claiming to be an "expert" here, although bringing up an example of Sam saying that Dave was in the studio with the brothers in'99 and not getting it to work was correct. I believe he stated this WAY after the fact. At the time wasn't that more common knowledge than what is going on now? Didn't Zappa confirm the '99 sessions before we heard a word from Sammy? I mean come on do you really think Sammy is in the know? I can see Eddie not telling Mike shit cause he is so close to Sammy. And now that I think about it, don't you think that anyone that registers at a Van Halen message board is probably somewhat of an expert regarding VH? Shit I know more about VH than anybody I know in the real world.
