Default Greatest Van Halen solo (technically)

Excluding instrumental wonders such as Spanish Fly and Ed's live solo from LWAN (which deserves special mention), which do you think is Ed's best solo WITHIN A SONG - based purely on technical and musical ability (not personal favourites).

I've put up 4 songs on a poll that spring to mind, but feel free to suggest others that I haven't mentioned, and if they are popular I'll see if there's a way to edit the poll and put in a few more options.

Spanish Fly and even Cathedral really are impressive along with a lot more but for some reason the ferocity of the solo from One Foot Out The Door has always moved me.

in the hagem high solo theres a little rythm break in the solo seems very hard to play.he hits double palm muted notes between each power chord, kind of like the beginning of light up the sky.i love it when he does that.

I've always loved the solo to "Hear about it later", another good one off Fair Warning is "Push comes to shove". Soooo many to choose from but those are a couple I like...

Edward is at his best during the Summer Nights solo from Live Without A Net. It is ridiculous.

I STILL believe the most jaw-dropping piece Ed ever committed to tape has to be ALL of "I'm The One". That one STILL eats my lunch and I've been bangin' away at learning that one for over twenty years...

The stuff in "Girl Gone Bad" is pretty wicked, as well...

While on the topic of jaw dropping solos, I had to post this:

I thought this solo was one of the best I have seen Eddie pull off - effortless, technically awesome, certainly one of my favorites, and def at a point when he was 'on'. Solo starts at 3:00, goes on for around a minute-twenty.

Yes I was blown away by that live solo when I saw it on YouTube a few months ago. I always thought that solo on Feelin' was probably Ed's best in terms of technique on Balance, and if its possible, he has done even better on the live version.

BTW, Is there anyway I can edit a poll once I’ve posted it, so I can add some of these suggestions?

Good call on both tunes. The second solo in "I'm the One" is terrifying, and I still can't get the pull-off run in the intro to sound right. Oh well goals are good, right?
