Default if the 07 tour is kaput-is vh done?[worse debacle than 96 w/dlr?]

so if the band fails to tour in 2007, does anyone here think they will:

be finished as the band vh for good?

    rehire gary?

    rehire sammy/mike?

    hire al's son to sing?

    try the tv rockstar idea?

tour as a trio w/wolfie after evh doing a solo album and rehab?

    do more porn soundtracks?

    try w/dave again in 08?

put the band to bed once and for all?

the 96 debacle (or was it 97) was worse because they were still somewhat relevant and people actually cared...it's different now. they are done i think. I will say this though, this could be a Live Nation ordeal, doubt it, but could be. I hate LN, they are closing Starwood outside of Nashville...shameful.

I think that 96 was probably a bigger debacle. In 96 they atleast all appeared on stage together and even recorded a few new songs together. This time around unless you are a VH fan or pay close attention to music news you would have no idea they were back together. The only confirmed sighting was the pic at Rolling Stone. I do think that if they get their shit together and tour this summer it will be the last time you will see Van Halen on the road.

I voted to put the band to bed 4 ever. That's my opinion and one that I'm sure Ed will find a way to not let happen.

a lot of people are giving up on the band altogether according to this poll... but if it's true that it's an issue about ed's health again, i think if vh, the band, are upfront about it, put out something from the vaults to tide us over, then the fans would be ok with the tour starting a little later than planned... besides, '08 becomes the "30-year anniversary" of the debut album...

The questions were what they WILL do, not should. So, I think more porn soundtracks are in order for Ed if this doesn't happen.

I hope it's not kaput, I still want to see the DLR fronted VH, warts and all.

But yeah this should be the last go round with DLR because MWM and CGTSNM suck ass. Just play the classics, hang it up.

Then go on TV for RockStar: Van Halen!

Say goodnight Gracie. Enough is enough already. If you can't do it right Ed (or Dave, Al, Irving, Jamie, or whomever) don't do it. Period. Don't drag your son down with you either.

There was more hype in '96. VH had been a regular, functioning band up to the point Sammy left, and they were all still relatively young. In a general sense the mess of '96 was worse from the public perspective, but I think for longtime and diehard fans this recent incident sticks the knife in and twists it around a little more.

I really think that this year was their last shot to be relevant. Screwing this up burns an already skeptical fan base and media following. This could be the last good press they ever get. If this doesn't happen, I do feel like they have blown their last big shot with a lot of people.

    Yes.

And although I was against the Mike replacement, it is still hard to see one of your favorite and most beloved bands die a pitiful death.

It gives me a sinking feeling, it does.
