In 1985-86, Sammy said that when he first met Ed, Alex and Mike, they were surrounded by a bunch of lawyers at a stuffy roundtable meeting. After a while, Sam rolled his eyes and said something to the effect of, "This is ridiculous. Lets just jam."

In 1996, Dave recounted that when he met up with Ed, Alex and Mike to discuss a reunion, he went to a meeting with no agenda, unarmed and alone, but Ed, Alex and Mike made a statement by bringing a whole slew of lawyers in tow.

In 2000-2001, when Dave tried to reconvene once again with VH, my guess is he decided to play hardball- as payback for getting unceremoniously dumped in '96. Dave came prepared by hiring Darth Vader lawyers to sic on the boys. Dave's hardball approach backfired. His financial demands were too steep and the deal fell through.

In 2006-2007, could the same thing be happening again? The cut-throat legal wrangling and behind-the-scenes power plays, on both sides, never end. Nobody wants to get screwed and everybody wants a piece of the cash grab.

I suppose it's possible, but I would think its Eddie's fault. No one elses. Don't ask me how I know that, it's just a hunch based on the last 29 years of bullshit the band has pulled. Every time something like this happens, Eddie stands in front of the camera and points to someone else. As GWB once said:
"Fool me once, shame on you........foo.......fool me twice..........you can't fool me again....."

good point, but i'll ask once again, why doesn't all this happen before the deal is signed, and announced? and before you get band photos taken and then sent out to rolling stone? and before you do an interview with rolling stone?
