Trem-Nut to keep guitar in tune

I have this Epiphone Les Paul Custom that I really dig, but the only problem is that it has the classic Les Paul G string dillema: The damn thing just won't stay in tune. I've even tried putting sperzel locking tuners on it, but it still had the same tuning issues. My guitar teacher suggested that perhaps a graphite nut would do the trick, and that's when I came across Graph Tech Guitar Labs on the internet. They have this self-lubricating nut on there that says it will help keep your guitar in tune. Check it out: http://www.graphtech.com/tremnut_info.php
The thing only costs like 5 bucks or something, so I figure I'll give it a shot. Anyone familar with these guitar nuts or anything similar?

Take a smaller jewelers file or a piece of sandpaper and run it through the nut you already have.

Also could have something to do with how you string your guitar.

If all else fails,, $5 isn't all that much of an investment for a new nut.

I use the Graph Tech nuts as replacement nuts and have had no ill effects. Dino is on to something with the filing of the nut. You may have an improperly cut nut which is causing binding etc. It's worth checking out before investing in a new nut. You should also check out the Earvana nuts for Les Paul/ESP style guitars. They work wonders for that G string being out of tune with certain chords. It's a little more pricey, but definitely worth the additional cost.

I have also used 3in1 oil for this, it's getting hung in the nut is my guess but it could be anything, what I do is put a fraction of oil everywhere the string touches anything, on the saddle of the bridge, a drop on the coil around the tuning pegs , in the slot of the nut etc etc you get the picture . I have done this many many times and the problem goes away.
One thing I would say about filing the nut slot , it doesn't take much to ruin your day, if you file it just a smidge too much your gonna fret out your string so go tiny especially if you've never done it before.

I have trem nuts on two of my guitars and I love them. If you decide to go with one. By a blank/uncut one. Good luck!
