Guitar Hero 2

so one thing I like about GH2 is the fact that it's opening the eyes of my teenage kids to a bunch of older music they never woul have heard, now because of it they are into Black Sabbath etc etc matter of fact just last week my oldest (18) come running to me saying, "dad you gotta here this song" I went to listen and it was Black Sabbath "War Pigs" he says "have you ever heard it ?" I tell him "Um........yea the first time was when I was Seven" but anyway now he's in to Sabbath and Skynrd so GH2 ain't so bad

yeah, definitely a good lineup on GH2! maybe it'll make people realize that kids need to find/hear guitar heroes today... so many new bands today have adequate guitar players, but no virtuosos by far...

I hear what you're saying, and I agree.
However, I think it's really sad that kids would prefer learning the Guitar Hero game as opposed to just learning the instrument.

As a kid, I remember sitting in front of an an old console stereo system (remember the kind with the built-in TV? ) and trying to learn songs off of records.
Now THAT was fun!

Exactly!
You could slow those old record players down to 16rpms and it would be half the speed and damn close to an octave below the parts you were trying to learn!

Ha! ... and to think .... back in the day, all the kids in the neighborhood just thought I had a great ear.

lol that was the only way to do it in the day. No tabs, no internet, no computers. Music books had basic chords in them but cool pictures. lol Cheers

I've never played Guitar Hero because I really don't see the point. I play guitar, I make music. I don't need some fucking PS2 video game to do that.

I agree. My neighbor across the street actually got me hooked on it. Hes dam near expert on it but he wont try any of the songs on Expert cuz he knows how hard they are. When I first tried playin the game, I sucked so much ass! After playing it for a few days, i got used to it but it was hard for me because i was so used to playing guitar that I couldnt adjust to just pushing buttons for strings. The really confusing thing was not having any buttons on the higher frets for higher notes. In my opinion, that would have made the game much more realistic than just having the buttons next to each other but even those are difficult to play with.

Still a fun game though...its just a bitch to play lol

I get the strangest looks when I go Birthday/Christmas shopping for my boys. It's always, "what type of system do they have"?. And I'm always going, "uh...".
I can't play any of the games my boys play. For me, it's just not interesting. However, I can kick their tails in Pac man!!

I bet all the kids who think they can play this game think they can pick up a guitar and play just as good. I know because I have friends that play and their fucking annoying when they play. I HATE THIS MUMUMUMUTHER FUCKING GAME!!!

Last Christmas, I bought my son "Guitar Hero 2". He played the hell out of it for about a month, asked me what game is next, I told him " son, it is the real game of guitar hero!" I told him just think how good you could be if you practiced a real guitar as much as you play the game. Damn if the kid did not listen to me! I played "Love Gun" for him tonight, the rare non VH song I play. He said, " Dad I know that song already." and played it to a T!

Last weekend, our local high school had a battle of the bands. 400 people and 8 bands showed up, some ok, some awesome!
When is the last time you have heard of the new hip hop generation having a battle of the bands?

The critics always complain that violent video games inspire our kids.
How could a rock guitar video game be wrong!
Not trying to sell the game, just happy that my 12 year old son can "almost" kick my ass on guitar!
