Thoughts on the New VH
I have let this tour and reunion of DLR and Eddie (which I think of it as) sink in the past few weeks, so I am going to write out some thoughts on the whole matter.
First off though I must comment on the negativity I have read in numorous threads. I have to say I am not so sure I would want to be a member of VH if all the fans are like those on this board. There is no pleasing any of you (the whiners). If it were Mike and Sam there would be littine whine threads everywhere. Even if Mike were involved in this tour I bet there would still be a bunch of you crying about something, probably about no new music, and the nostalga thing, you just can't be satisfied with anything.
I also find it rather odd that DLR is back and Mike is not. I really have to wonder if there is some relation there. Mike has always been made out to be the 'good guy' etc etc, but the real truth is nobody really knows what is, or has been going on. It is apparent there has been some sort of problem with Mike and Ed for years.
I also must say that really Ed, especially Alex, really don't say much about anything, where Sam will shoot his mouth off at any given chance, and his tone always seems to be in a way that will either favour his own image, or favour his chance at playing in VH. I like Sam with VH, I like Sam solo, but I do think he uses his opportunities.
If Eddie has been inspired to get back into his old music by his son than for christ sake leave the guy alone and be happy he is doing it! He (ED) may very well come out and play the best he has in decades, but unfortunately he is doomed before he begins because people are trashing him before it even starts! Is sickening, it really is!
And poor Wolfie, he has been tried and convicted before even playing a note! You guys have pretty much put him in the very same situation Gary Cherone was, he doesn't have a chance no matter how good he is, or isn't.
Personally, I have really started listening to the classic VH stuff and almost feel I am rediscovering it. I love Sammy era as well, but to have a chance to see Eddie and Dave playing all those old tunes would be awsome. Bottom line is they found a way to do it. It is too bad about Mike, but we really don't have a clue on the entire situation, even with so called insiders.
To close, quit your F#$&*@# whinning and enjoy the new tour.

So your "thoughts" and opinions (which parallel those of many others who have posted here) are worthy of their own thread?

First of all, you and the rest of the so-called "anti-whiners" (who spend half of your posts whining about the whining and playing Frasier Crane) know where you can put your moral superiority on the issue of the New VH. Maybe some of you are happy to embrace the latest farce coming from Team VH, but some of us simply aren't. Sorry to burst your balloon.
Second, everything you posted is pure, biased conjecture meant to make yourself feel better about this "reunion" tour. My opposition to this tour is because MA is not there and a teenager is. That's it. I don't care that isn't working with SH because I don't care to see SH in VH anymore. I also would've preferred that the band live up to EVH's previous statements and only tour behind new music, but if it were the original four members of CVH I wouldn't have cared that much because it would've meant I would've had the chance to see the original CVH lineup once again.
Probably because he doesn't belong there. The irony is if instead of having his kid replace a long-time member of the band, EVH had helped him form his own band and they opened up for a tour featuring the full original CVH lineup, many of us would've been interested in seeing and supporting WVH. WVH may have even created some fans among us. I have nothing against the kid personally, but the way this is being done has made it pretty difficult for me to support him, at least as bassist in the band I grew up with and revered.
Right back at ya, Chief.
With all the anger you apparently have, I'm not so sure you'll actually be able to enjoy the tour, though. After all, it appears to bother you that some of us don't have much interest in seeing this F#$&*@# tour and choose to post our displeasure here.
I guess we get less than two weeks to be critical of this latest VH move before some here start complaining about our negativity, while the Rothbots got two decades -- and at least close to a decade online -- to complain about their guy leaving the band voluntarily at the peak of its success."Seems the old folks who come up short were the pretty little kids who didn't want it, no." - Van Halen (1979)

I agree, everyone should just give ol' Wolfer a chance.

At this point I wouldn't give a damn if it was Julius Cesar fronting Van Halen, it's Ed himself that turned me off with his behind-music activities, which took a huge toll on his playing. I don't need to pay to see a guy whos 'improved' guitar skills I've already seen on youtube
