Halen on American Idol???

I heard a (very unreliable source) rumor that Van Halen might be appearing on American Idol in the next few weeks??? I think that it's pure speculation though. I haven't found anything out there on the web that backs this one up.

There's an article about American Idol that the producer says: Within the next two weeks “American Idol” viewers will see “the biggest thing to happen to ‘Idol’ in five years,” according to Nigel Lythgoe, the show’s executive producer. "It does include ‘American Idol,’ and it does include America," he told TelevisionWeek Editorial Director Chuck Ross.


Now that would be so cool to have them on. Last year they had Queen on the show. Halen is definitely American. I just don't think that the American Idol target audience even knows who they are anymore. I could be wrong though!!

Anyone else out there heard anything about this????

LOL!! That would be great to see Simon and DLR go at it. DLR would probably be oogling Paula during the entire show too (or some of the female contestants.) It's guaranteed to be a ratings boost, at any rate. I doubt it's really going to happen though.

Yeah, that ain't gonna happen. It's a completely different style of music appealing to an entirely different audience. It doesn't benefit either the band or the TV show.

As Simon says, American Idol is about singing. That's the last thing this version of 'Van Halen' is about. Unless they do AI to find some backups for the tour.
