    Default Van Hagar era leftovers?

Hi, just wondering if there are any other studio sessions or leftovers from any of the hagar albums other that 5150? Pretty much the only Van Hagar song not appearing on an album i have found is I Want Some Action (great song BTW).

Maybe its wishful thinking but i heard something somewhere about a thing called "Into the Ether" from Balance? Anyone know about this?

Also does anyone have a non hissy version of IWSA in mp3? I can't get this torrent stuff to work on places like "JamToThis". Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks

I think it was called "Out of the Ether". Don't believe it ever made its way out of the Pentagon...errrrrrr.....5150 studios.

"I Want Some Action" is a great tune. A little too similar to "Good Enough". I'm guessing they picked between the two and chose "Good Enough" for 5150.

Plus, IWSA has that lil homage to "If 6 Was 9" there at the end.

There are a ton of leftovers that have never seen the light of day. Some did evolve into other songs. For example, the songs DLR did with VH for the Best Of album were rehashed Sammy songs. I recall an interview with Sammy, who called VH Management on it and got a check for his contribution to it.

Interesting, i wish there was something floating around somewhere. Anyone else have any info on "Out of The Ether"?

Yes but have any of them been unofficially 'released' from the Hagar era besides "I Want Some Action"? Anyone know of any others? (e.g. from ou812, FUCK or Balance)?

Also does anyone have a NON-HISSY decent quality version of "I Want Some Action"?

Ether ended up being a solo instrumental and intro to "Wash Me Down", which was on the Japanese release of Marching To Mars.

There were some other songs such as "The Wish" that never made it out. I don't think it's any relation to the song with a similar title on Mas Tequila.

I kind of thought that "Into the Ether" is the same thing as "Crossing Over".
The Edge... there is no honest way to explain it because the only people who really know where it is are the ones who have gone over.

This next part could really confuse things. Let's stay focused. #asis

in some of the F.U.C.K. and rhrn shows sammy plays some early versions of what would have been vh songs ( hypothetically )

    " the love "
" returning of the wish "
    ended up being sammy-post-vh songs.

Isn't that part of his 'solo' act though? Like when he did "Eagles Fly", it wasn't with the band?

it's "out of the ether" and it is not the same as crossing over from what i remember.

Out of the Ether was originally written for Carnal Knowledge and was later considered for Balance. FUCK actaully had a bunch of leftover tracks, there's an interview with Ed from back in 91 where he says there were at least 5 or 6 songs that he wanted on the disk instead of TOTW but Andy Johns insisted on TOTW cause he loved that song. They also had a bunch of leftover tracks for balance that they used to talkk openly about in interviews.

    some other titles I know:

    You Never Know

The Wish-Sammy later reworked the music to this and it appears on his Red voodoo disk as Returning of the Wish, sammy would say in an interview that the original music for the wish was used by VH on Once.

Mike talks to the Inside magazine about some stuff for Balance, one of which is "hendrix jam"

Backdoor Schuffle-later music was used for CGTSNM and Sammy said in an interview that he actually got paid for the song cause they used his melodies and this was when Ray Daniels was bickering back and forth with him in the press and never denied it.

there were lyrics for beluch...whatever, the insturmental on balance but it was decided to keep it an instrumental in the end.

I have a demo of Sammy doing a song called "fallen from grace" which was later given to Heart and recorded by them.

I know there's more, just can't remember them now.

Sammy also presented Leaving the Warmth of the Womb to Ed during one of thier last meetings and Ed's reply was "that's the baddest ass song you ever wrote" so it prolly would have been on the next CD.

Sam's original version of Humans Being was titled "The Hot Zone" or The Silent Extreme. They also worked on the ever so infamous "Between Us Two" or "Closer to You". It was said to be an awsome song, first recorded with Bruce Fairburn and then he loved the song so much he tried to get tacked on the writing credits which caused him to get the boot and they rerecorded it with Glen Ballard.

Sam said in a couple of 97 interveiws that he had about 5 songs ready for the next VH record....or sets of lyrics he was working on, all of which appeared on MTM.

I'll look up the other ones in the VH encyclopedia and come back next week with more.

Returning of the Wish is what Sammy did with part of what would have been "Between Us Two". Van Halen made their own song of it when they wrote "Once" with Cherone. I recall the original version of "Between Us Two" was apparently going to be "Van Halen's 'Stairway to Heaven" and was said to be a mix between Unchained and Dreams.

Well it's a live track, but from the Jump Live EP "Mine All Mine" is perfected. It was left off the live album except for in Germany I think. If anyone wants it pm me. Best live version I've ever heard of that song.
