Vitto Bratta speaks on Eddie Trunk last night gives EVH a thumbs up
Vitto Bratta came out from 15 years of silence last night on Eddie Trunk and talked about many things.
Eddie Trunk asked him what he thought about Van Halen Reunion and he said that he loves Eddie and has been compared to him many times. He considers it a great compliment and has met EVH several times. He talked about how nice and humble EVH was. Eddie Trunk then asked Vitto what he thought about Wolfgang being their new bass player and he said (humor) "it's hard for me to imagine that because the last time I saw his son he was only 6 months old. Vitto said EVH was telling Wolfgang to say hi to Vitto. Vitto was laughing because the kid was an infant and couldn't talk. He said if Wolfgang was anything like Eddie, he will blow people away. He was very happy about them all getting back together.
One funny thing Vitto said about EVH was they were outside together taking a break from rehearsals (VH was practicing beside White Lion for upcoming tours) Vitto said this kid with a guitar neck came up thinking Vitto was EVH and told him he was the greatest and EVH and him played along with it. Vitto pointed to EVH and said "thats a great guitarist there too" The kid said "who is it? Vitto said " Vitto Bratta of White Lion" The kid said "oh he's good too, but I just want your autograph".Last edited by Halenizer; 02.17.07 at 07:03 AM.

Vito was definitely better than your typical EVH wanna-be! He was a wanna-be, yes, but he had that shit DOWN! Plus at the time Vito came around I would dare say he was doing Eddie better than Eddie. He was playing 1977 Eddie while Ed had morphed into the Adult Contemporary, Van Hagar Eddie.

Vito's a great player, that story about the kid was funny.

Man I love it! All these bands coming back. It's about fucking time too. Vito is n EVH head, yes. But he's also a very decent player with tons of feel and White Lion has some really cool songs. I can't wait to see the following bands this summer:
1. VH Duh!
2. Tesla
3. Quiet Riot
4. George Lynch
5. White Lion
6. Twisted Sister
7. Love/Hate (All 4 Original Members)
8. Ratt (Original Members)
Finally some Real Rock Music!! Kick Ass!

I don't think Vita Bratta is playing in White Lion, he left the industry years ago. Ratt really can't be the original members, Robbin Crosby is dead.

Without Robbin its not Ratt!!!
Sorry, I had to get that in there.
Vito to me was as if Eddie Van Halen and Randy Rhoads were merged together. Great player.

Vito mentioned why he's been away... first, WL broke up because their music wasn't fitting the grunge scene... then he tried to start up a new band and no one would sign him... he said one record executive told him that he played too well, that he needed to de-tune his guitar and play a little more sloppy (?)... he told that guy off and got a little turned off by the industry... he eventually tended to his father for about 5 years, who had gotten very ill and eventually passed on... he also mentioned a wrist injury from '97/'98 that was so bad that doctors told him if he didn't stop playing, he risked losing it... he described trying to play a regular electric guitar caused burning sensations in his fingers...
That said, he said he has never said never to a WL reunion... any time Tramp approached, it just has been bad timing... he said he could've gone on tour and not make that much money but have a blast, but that wouldn't pay the bills at home, especially when you have family that is relying on you... he also didn't really slag on Tramp, except to say that it makes it harder for him to want to do a reunion when Tramp goes around touring different versions of the band... however, he continued to not rule out a reunion, because he would love to play again...
He shot down some rumors from over the years... he's not a real estate broker... never owned a pizzeria... and he's not "working in computers" (these are all supposed professions of his people concocted over the years)... he invested in some real estate once with a friend and only uses a computer to log onto the internet (funny thing, there is a forum www.vito-bratta.com that he went to check out, but he's got a hang-up about having to "register" for sites)...
He sounded very normal, Eddie said the guy still looks the same (and he's remained in close contact with him over the years), but most importantly Vito wants to make music again!
To answer the "wannabe" comment... he mentioned several people as influences, but that he never intended to copy anyone's styles... you just tend to lean towards a certain style of playing as you evolve your skills... you learn to love a certain kind of music... can't really fault him for that... would you denounce Nuno and Vai's abilities, just because their style is similar to Ed's?

I bumped into Dee Snider in Port Washington (NY) last Sunday at a restaurant called Louie's! I was eating dinner with family, and he walked in with his family and another couple... I quietly gave him the horns as he walked by, and he actually turned and said hello. I left it at that... wanted to respect his privacy. Funny thing is, a few years ago I bumped into again at a mall on Long Island... he was with his family (a friend of mine joked that Dee is stalking me! oh, oh... here comes Captain Howdy! )
One of the Tesla guys is in rehab and not playing with them for a couple of years, isn't he? QR is only two classic members, WL just one, and Crosby is gone (RIP).

Shit, I'll go see White Lion if Vito is playing with them! He's a great guitarist and a good songwriter. I believe their original bass player, James Lomenzo, was touring with Roth's band recently so he's probably free to re-join WL again. Not that it matters if the original bassist is with the group...

Cool story about Dee Snider.
I saw Tesla twice in the past 2 years. Frank Hannon is an amazing guitarist! I think he's one of the most underrated guitarist in music. Two years ago when I saw them, it was the entire original band. Last summer, Tommy Skeotch (sp?), the rhythm guitarist, was replaced on tour. The band mentioned during the show that Tommy doesn't like touring any more but was still in the band. He was replaced on tour with one of Frank's friends. But Tommy has been in-and-out of rehab for years. So, it wouldn't surprise me if that was the real reason he missed last year's tour.
As far as Frank being an amazing guitarist, check out this video of Tesla doing a cover of "War Pigs." It's amazing, Frank completely shreds throughout the song! I also recorded them playing "Love Song" live.
I apologize for the quality of the video. I shot it with my digital camera last summer when I saw them at Pine Knob. I was in the 8th row, but still, video's shot with digital cameras are the best quality. The video is also kind of large, but it's definitely worth watching. I hope you guys like it:

i think it gets replayed during the week on www.knac.com, but i would check eddie's website for details www.eddietrunk.com
you can contact eddie directly on the site (he definitely responds to you)... he sometimes posts downloads of the show on his site, but it would have to wait till after the knac replay...
