Pricey Police Tixx - More or Less Likely to See VH IV?
Tickets for The Police reunion tour are pretty high in the stratosphere, and the presales are pretty much selling out, so when the regular onsales roll around next week, I'm sure those will go just as fast. Not knowing what VH is going to charge, does this make you more or less likely to catch the (almost) VH reunion tour?
I would've liked to see both, but The Police are seeming to price themselves out of my range (too many expenses with a family at home to splurge that high). It's looking like only VH Mach IV for me at this point...
Let's try not to derail this into a MA vs. VH thread...
Scientific evidence from the data points culled from Sammy vs. Dave threads show that they lead to no conclusions...
I like MA as much as the next old school / hard core VH fan, but at least we're getting the old songs in a live setting again, and maybe the sans MA-tour forces them to keep ticket prices in check.

I have decided my seeing VH 4 completely depends on what occurs at the RRHOF ceremony in New York.
The Police...under no circumstances nor price restrictions will I miss.

Reliable sources have said VH is asking about the same as they did in '04--around $750,000 to $1,000,000 per show. So ticket prices will likely be about the same--around $80 to $120 per seat.

Van Halen with Dave I dont really care what the cost is I'm going guess i'm just a sheep.
The Police well they could be playing for free and giving away free beer I would rather watch paint dry.
Didn't like them when they first came out and still dont care about them now

As many here already know, I will not go see VH 4 under any circumstances.
However, I will be going to see The Police regardless of the cost. It's one of the only concerts that I would never miss under any circumstances (along with a full reunion of CVH). I have a lot of fond memories from the late '70s and early '80s listening to Sting & Co."Seems the old folks who come up short were the pretty little kids who didn't want it, no." - Van Halen (1979)

I could again easily blow the $3500 to $4000 to see this version of 'Van Halen' this year. But I won't. At the most, cheap-ass lawn seats. If the tour lasts long enough (and I don't have dinner plans).
I'm indifferent to the Police.Sammy did the impossible. He made Van Halen better. Deal with it.

I like the Police but i don't like them that much. $225 a seat sounds a tad steep for a show I could have saw for $20 when they were relevent.
I've seen VH every time they've come through town and have rarely been disappointed. I'll be there unless the reviews are 2004esque. I would imagine tickets would be a little more than 2004.

Definetely a "Yup, you bet your ass!" on seeing The Police. The true debate here is whether to see VH or Genesis (hopefully Peter Gabriel will show up, eventually).

yeah, the $225 tix are pricey, but I had planned, if going, to sit in the nosebleed anyway. I can handle the $50 for that.
Don't drink the Jim Jones punch. They're called theToxic Twins for a reason...

Unless, I get shutout by Ticketmaster on Tuesday, I plan to attend once Police show at The Garden in the low to mid-price range. AND multiple VH shows
Wolfie is not Mike, but he's more than ok.
Mike is gone, but not forgotten. They played some amazing shows from 2007-2015; some people are in denial about it.

If they don't perform, that's fine, I have no problem with that. Just five guys up there, smiling, gritting their teeth for ten minutes, move on to Patty Smith, boom. Okay, that I can handle.
Should Ed decide to completely clusterfuck the VH legacy and omit Sam and Mike from a performance and drag his kid up there instead to crank out Jump with Dave....well. That may very well be my utter last straw in giving that guy one red cent of my money ever again.
I have claimed for years there are only two concert events in which I would basically forego any costs or efforts to attend and be, at the very least, if not front row center, in the first five rows of the pit. One was a true reunion of Dave, Mike, Al, and Ed. The other was a true reunion of Sting, Stewart, and Andy. I guess 1 out 2 ain't bad, since I was convinced neither would EVER happen.
It's looking like I'll have to spend thousands to get in the first five rows to see the Police. Which I will do if I have to. Hopefully prices will level off in the spring. But this VH 4 thing definitely has limits, and as I said, if the Rock Hall ceremony is a half-cocked embarassment thanks to a bitter guitarist...I may just say fuck it and skip the tour entirely. I've attended all things Van Halen - oriented since 1981 (a little short on the Dave solo shows, but I wasn't a big fan of those LPs he put out). I've seen Dave era live. It won't be a heartbreaker if I miss VH 4.
Sad to think I almost got to see a CVH reunion, a Police reunion, and Rush in the same summer. Still, I'll take 2 outta 3.
