    Default Texxas Jam '78 Documentary

Not sure if this has been covered since I'm not a frequent poster...but I stumbled on this production of a documentary on Texxas Jam '78......

The odd thing is that Sammy is listed as in the documentary, although his appearance (on the same bill as VH) was not until '79...

    Texxas Jam '78 (Documentary/ tv)

In 1978, Dallas, Texas, USA, close to 100,000 people packed into The Cotton Bowl to watch the first real rock festival in the southern United States. People from several states surrounding Texas drove in crowding the interstates, eventually parking along the highways and walking in, in 100 degree temperatures to watch the hottest acts of the time: Aerosmith, Journey, Van Halen, Eddie Money, Ted Nugent, Heart, Walter Egan. Head East, Frank Marino and the Mahagony Rush, and several others. In never before seen footage and interviews with the artist and festival planners, re-experience the father of all festivals in the south. The Texxas Jam!!!

so any chance of any footage of our favorite band? That would be great if there was!
Wolfie is not Mike, but he's more than ok.
Mike is gone, but not forgotten. They played some amazing shows from 2007-2015; some people are in denial about it.

Yeah, 88 for me too! I was up front for Metallica and got thrown over the barricade, which kinda sucked.

Certainly some wild times at the Jamms. Lots of fun!

The 1988 Texas Jam was my first concert ever. What a great experience. This is also the show where Sammy's voice gave out and he promised to come back and do a free show. Which ended up being the Dallas Free Show in West End, 1991.

I think this was the concert where VH's equipment, mikes, amps, drums etc. got lost coming back from Japan. They had to raid a music store in Dallas.

The thing I remember about the 2 Jamms I went to was in between bands, stadium crews would hose down the crowd in front of the stage with a firehose. Their main objective was not to cool down the crowd but knock as many bikini tops off the chicks as possible.

Forgot about the hoses! Damn those hurt. Just one more thing that sucked about being up front for that show! The water pressure was brutal.

My first concert ever was this. Aerosmith released a tape of their set and other footage from the day of this festival just called live at the texxas jam 78. Van Halen was absolutely filmed but that film is probably never gonna see the light of day.

But, it SHOULD! I remember the film tower and the camreras. That concert was an Event! No ther Texas Jam was ever as great. Other Jams were as good as they were, but NEVER as great as the '78 Texas Jam. The never allowed that many fans into any of the Jams afterward. The '78 jam was a fucking site to see!! Nugent, imo shone the brightest of the entire event.

I would like to see that VH footage please..
