Getting Tickets from Australia
Hey people
With news of the upcoming tour, I am gonna plan a holiday around the chance of scoring tickets. I am coming from Australia and have checked out sites like Ticketmaster and GoTickets
I will probably hook up at a Californian city and was wondering if I could get some advice on the best way gauranteed to get me a ticket
If you think that turning up on the day and getting scalpers tickets is the way, let me know but please be reasonable. I am gonna be spending a shitload with flights so dont want to get there and get ripped off or get nothing. Am planning to go to Hawaii and then just hop over, if I am lucky

Do you know anyone in the USA? Thats a start. I went to the states in 2004 to see them at St. Louis and Chicago. I'm from Australia too mate.
My friend in Indiana booked both for me, and it was easy. They paid for both and I paid them back when I got there.
Dont go through ticketmaster over here mate. Stupid move. If you have no one over there you dont know, hook up with a fan on here and try and meet them and get them to pay your ticket and you pay them back when your there.
Just my tip. What is understood need not be discussed

I don't quite agree with the "don't go through TM over here".....
I saw 3 shows for 2004 tour and got tickets for 2 shows via the TM Canada internet site from here in Singapore. We don't have TM here so I went direct to the overseas site. Then got 5*star thru the iloveallaccess site for one show. Had absolutely no problem and wasn't worried about scrounging around for tickets or having to pay an excessive price. We Belong, in a world that MUST be strong!

Can't you buy them from ticketmaster or tickets.com and select the "print tickets at home" option?
One noticeable difference between Judas Priest and Metallica...
...Judas Priest only has one gay guy in the band.

I bought a ticket back in 2004 by going online (at 4am) to Ticketmaster. The ticket had to be picked up either at the venue or a Ticketmaster booth. I didn't end up using the ticket in the end. Also, as someone said, knowing someone over in the States is helpful. I have some friends in Long Beach, CA whom I can try use as an option of staying with, if I do end up going over for this one.
Bobby Cohn: Who's going to be at Waynestock?
Wayne Campbell: Um, uh...Aerosmith & Pearl Jam!
Garth Algar: Ha ha ha ha ho!
Bobby: Who else?
Garth: Uh, me...and...and Wayne...
Wayne: ...and uh...VAN HALEN!!!
Garth: Wow. Van Halen. Who else?
Bobby: Yeah, who else?
Wayne: Uh, an old man fashioning a kayak out of a log?

You can always try buying tickets off of Ebay or stubhub.com. That's some dedication, flying from Australia to see the band. But unfortunatly, VH usually only tours North America and has only been to Australia once, on the "3" tour. Good luck.

Seat Plans at Ticketmaster
Do Ticketmaster online in the US allow you to select specific seats from a plan. In Australia you have more chance turning up and asking for a seat based on what is available
That is why I was hoping a local contact would be better as I dont want to be auto-allocated a back row seat if I go online, especially if travelling half way across the work
TM from down here in Australia directs you to local sites and is no good

Ticketmaster allows you to pull down a venue grid. When buying tickets one selects which price range he/she wants and Ticketmaster offers specific seats. You then are allotted time to decide whether or not to buy what they are offering or have them select a different seat.
It's always a hit or miss because the Ticketmaster computer's idea of a "good" seat is not necessarily the same as a fans.
I've had good and bad luck with Ticketmaster, also from buying from eBay and from fans (as opposed to scalpers) day of show. It mostly depends on how much you want to spend and how many people are going. With single tickets one usually has better options.
You can log into US Ticketmaster and "practice" without buying anything. Pick an act that's currently touring or a venue like the Gibson Amphitheater,
the Hollywood Bowl or whatever the venue is called in Devore, CA (you can choose by location).
Good luck.
