Default How much better will Van Halen do then Van Hagar?

    According to Billboard -

    http://www.billboard.com/billboard/i...p_25_Tours.pdf

The Van Hagar reunion sold out only 4 of 50 shows covered in their chart and over 1/4 of the tickets were left unsold. The Van Halen tour this year will sellout everywhere. Whaddya think? Scalpers are projecting to want $1000 for the opening show in Vegas.

I agree with what the Mikey dude said about Van Hagar sucking.

    Quick facts (source riaa.com) -

Sammy sold only 2 million records before he inherited fame in VH and never had a platinum record.

Montrose never charted in the top 100.

When Dave joined VH, VH had never sold an album. When Sammy joined, VH sales declined with every album.

Sammy never had a platinum record outside of VH, his solo records and Montrose record only went platinum AFTER and WHILE he was in Van Halen.

Dave had multiple platinum records outside of VH.

Dave has outsold Sammy by a margin of 2-1 in his career.

Dave has more solo platinum records than Sammy.

4 of the top 5 selling VH albums were with Roth, two of them over 10 million and earning the Diamond award.

1984 sold 5 million in it's first year, it took 5150 (sammy's best) over 8 years to sell 5 million. No other Van Hagar album has sold 5 million.

1984 and VH1 alone have sold about as much as the entire Van Hagar catalogue.

Dave/VH has had albums on the charts twice as long as Hagar's.

Dave had been out of VH 20 years and his last album of just cover songs sold 15,000 in it's first month.

Sammy had just toured in the big reunion with Van Halen and was touring as the Other Half with Mike Anthony and his last album sold only 22,000 in it's first month.

Hagar fans are in for a rude awakening as the mighty Van Halen is mighty once again with DLR. No wonder they hate me after my first post.

The truth detector is back (until you see to it I'm banned) so fantasy world is over for Hagar fans (disguised as Mikey fans)

Apparent mismanagement leads to company changes

Rocker Sammy Hagar has mercifully pulled in the reigns on his Cabo Wabo Tequila Empire after a year of apparent mismanagement and increasing losses of revenue. President Barry Augus has been demoted and seems to take the brunt of the responsibility for the company's downward spiral. The Oakland corporate office and the majority of the staff were given pink slips last Thursday.

For someone who hates Hagar, you surely spend a lot of time online researching facts about him. All his stats, his business deals, etc.

On the other hand, how much time a day does Sammy spend worrying about you? Zero - not a minute.

So guess what - without you even realizing it, you've become Sam's bitch!

    mmm-kay...

yes, dlr has outsold sammy... and i personally prefer dave era over sammy era vh tunes, but don't hate sammy era tunes... but this tour will not sell out everywhere... not even close... you're fooling yourself if you think so...

leaving alone the MA factor, this tour is happening at least 11 years too late, and not just because that is when they first got back together for new music... some of the big cities will draw large crowds, but do you really think that across america, people are going to come out in droves in the smaller towns to see this tour?

the hard-core fans will come, the curious casual fans will come, and some younger fans will come to check out what they never got to see... but with all the great p.r. that vh is doing (), i highly doubt the crowd will be much better than the sammy reunion... fans are older, have moved on, maybe don't go to as many shows any more, and there will be other choices this summer over paying top dollar to watch teen wolf on bass...

one of the most satisfying shows to see for me had been sam & dave in '02 in a small ballroom in a.c.; there were only about 100 of us at the show, got to hear the biggest hits of the entire catalogue, and saw both guys extremely up close (and interact with them) for a reasonable price ($100 a pop)...

as for that billboard report, the heavy hitters in the top 10 are all pop artists, save for metallica and bowie... take the attendance of everyone on the entire chart (solo and band) and divide by capacity straight down for a fair comparison... oh, i'm boring myself arguing about this...

Actually, I learned the truth after reading all the lies the Hagar fans post. They love to spread the lies, but cry when the truth comes a knockin!

That makes *you* my bitch :-)

I sure did shut down that "Hagar has the second best selling tequila in the world" and "Hagar hasn't made a bad decision in 10 years" bs, didn't I?

Glad to have you quoted as saying the tour will suck in sales. You people haven't a clue as to what is about to happen.

DLR is NOT Sammy Hagar. DLR is the consummate professional and this tour will blow away that failure from a few years ago. Mark my words. Sammy was in it for a money grab and the shows were like they pulled some guy off the street to sing. Do not underestimate DLR in VH. I'm going to have a good laugh on all you non-fans.

And, yeah, check the Billboard report and see that VH is the ONLY tour with sellouts in the single digits in the top 20 and no one in the top 10 has their percentage of unsold tix. Nice try and beddy-bye!

Liquor sales is part of what I do for a living. For anyone to say that "Cabo Wabo" is a mainstream and massive selling product is truly off their rocker. I'm not implying that it's an inferior product, it does get good reviews. However, I will not purchase, stock nor serve it. That's just me and I have my reasons.

Even for a "higher end" tequila, it does nowhere near the numbers as Patron,Tres Generations, Don Julio or others.

I'm curious, though - could a Dave fan enjoy Sam's tequila purely coz they like the taste? Or would that be breaking the "dave or the grave" code of honor?
By the same token, do Dave-only fans avoid wearing anything red? And would Rothbots go out other way to NOT have a street address ending in "55'?

That would be pretty funny since during the sam and dave tour, dave himself praised cabo wabo tequila. But of course we all know that dave's a genius while 95% of his "roth-only" fans are idiots.

The 2004 tour did not sell well because of the lack of advertisement.
The 2004 tour did not sell well because there was no new music.
The 2004 tour did not sell well because there was no press.
The 2004 tour did not sell well because there were very few interviews.
The 2004 tour did not sell well because Ed played like SHIT.
The 2004 tour did not sell well because it was a nostalgia tour.

How is this Van Halen 4 tour different from anything posted above??

This tour will sell a little bit better because it will get a little bit more press, but not much...because there will be

    no interviews
    no new music
    no Classic VH lineup
    no advertisement
no chance of Ed playing well
Lets just throw a pound of weed in the fire place, f@#% it!
