Under appreciated songs
Just a curiosity. Most people must have favourite VH songs that never makes the greatest hits records or gets played live. What are they? I'll start with In a Simple Rhyme form WACF. Superb song.

Push Comes To Shove....Love the laid-back groove, great solo, and some of Dave's best lyric writing...IMO.

A lot of stuff off of WACF has been way way over looked, the only things I hear are EBWS and TCWR .
my votes are for Take your whiskey home and my absolute favorite on that cd
(record back in my day) is Romeo Delight, I know they played it on the 98' tour but it's still the best song on that record

Aftershock. Everyone was firing on all cylinders on that one, yet it received no airplay and VH didn't play it at the Balance show I attended. I don't know if they ever played it live.

I didn't catch the Balance tour until August of 1995 in Mansfield, MA, although it started in the spring as I recall. They must have dropped "Aftershock" as the tour went on.

VH with Dave ('78-'84) - The best years....the "real" VH.
VH with Sam ('86-'96) - Incredible era....."We have renamed this town 'New Halen!'.
VH with Gary ('98) - Fucking disaster. WTF was that??
VH with Wolf/Dave ('12-'15) - Amazing comeback. Smokin' album and tours.

totally agree. Romeo Delight is another one that floored me when I first heard it. I love the solo - you know, where Ed slows down. ( I ain't a musician so I don't know what you call that.)
I even enjoy WACF, even though it's a goofy song. It's fun when Dave goes, "Edward"? and Ed does a little lick, and Dave replies, "thank ya." Dave truly makes me laugh.
Two of my favorites that you don't hear mentioned are Outta Love, and Light Up the Sky! They're rockin', unique songs - one of the things I love about VH. All their songs are very distinctive compared to other rock bands, and they stand apart from each other within the VH collection.
Those 2 songs are great too, imho, because they have the Dave-era flare!
oh, and another thing, and then I'll stop. When I heard EBWS for the first time in years, I loved the creaking and wailing sounds Ed makes on the intro. The guy always puts in something special. For me, he's just too much fun!
