Default Sam and Dave to perform at the induction ceremony!

Our local classic rock station just announced that Sam AND Dave will be performing at the RRHOF ceremony, and that they will indeed go on a 40 city tour this summer. They said Wolfie will be on bass for the tour - didn't say whether he or Mike will perform at the ceremony.

I am repeating myself, but I thought this deserved its' own thread.

Mike will perform at the ceremony.. he is being inducted and that can NEVER be taken away from him.
If ed has wolf perform instead of mike, its suicide for his tour, imo.
THAT would be the ultimate slap in the face and no way sam would sign on to perform if mike wasnt allowed, we KNOW that.

For this big event, having both lead singers perform a song or two would be monumental!

2 big reasons why I feel that way:

    1. They can't get along.

    2. Ed, Al and Dave need to sell this tour sight unseen. If they play and they suck, then that will kill the tour before it hits the ground.

I'd love to see them put aside the petty bullshit for ONE night, Just shut the fuck up, play a little set of Sam songs then some Dave songs and end Van Halen with some dignity.

But like I said, I really doubt they'll play. LOL

Exactly. The sole person that dictates MA's role in VH's performance in the R&RHOF is EVH. Unfortunately, EVH is also the one that's mentally unstable and can't make sound decisions.
    DLR, circa 2001:

"Hey this is David Lee Roth and I promised you the news and here's the news.

About a year ago myself and the great Van Halen band played together once or twice and it sounded amazing!

In the following several months Edward and I, Edward Van Halen and me, David Lee Roth, created some of the most amazing, phenomenal - the hands fell off the clock ladies and gentleman and we wrote three astonishing tunes.

That was last July (2000) and since then I haven't been up to the studio, we haven't really been in touch and we haven't made any music, but I am holding forth, I'm in the shape of my life and I got the high note - I'm ready to go.

And I am positive for the future ladies and gentleman.

Stay tuned and I'll tell you what the future brings..."

That's what a couple of former Blondie band members who were with the band for its biggest success thought last year, too, and Deborah Harry's kid wasn't one of the possible replacements for any of them for the performance. Maybe will EVH will cave and do the right thing here, but I'd guess that's about a 50/50 proposition, especially since a bad performance by his kid could hurt the tour and shine the light on the fact that MA won't be there.

I can see why Ed would want to sell this tour sight unseen, in light of how he looks these days. (ha) Even though he's had some work done, I'm afraid a crowd of people who haven't seen or heard VH for years will gasp in horror when they get a good look at Ed - ala Whitney Houston's reception?
I think he looks pretty good, but I'm a little biased.

I really believe that if they do play (or should I be more confident and say WHEN) they will be just fine.

I wasn't talking about his appearance, I was more focused on how the band may sound.
I don't think they want to risk sounding bad for any reason before the tickets go on sale.

Once again, Van Halen has managed to make a something simple-- complicated. How much easier this HOF would be if, Wolfie wasn't involved. The timing of this is just pathetic.
I mean it would be simple. 2 songs a piece, 2 singers. Take turns, now they have to say oh...he's the old bass player, but we have a new one and he's sitting this one out.
